for those who hate the use of Democrat instead of Democratic party
Edited on Wed Sep-24-03 08:37 AM by LittleApple81
Rep. John Spratt, a Democrat from South Carolina in C-Span now, just used Democrat to refer to the Democratic party... I guess he is being co-opted by the Republican version of the English language.

1. No, it means that Rep. Spratt has fallen victim to the Retrog meme
or that he misspoke.

P.S. What is a "sytem"?

2. His constituents and other members...
...of the House of Representatives should give him an earful if he actually said "Democrat Party". Damn if I will allow Republicans to define the language.

Spratt, it should be said, would be a moderate Republican if he were anywhere but a souther state. Check his record:

3. i asked, a couple weeks ago, if this was a regional thing because
it's very common around here, as in 'vote democrat' in campaign ads.
since the congressman is from SC and i'm from PA, i guess it's usage it not exclusively a PA thing. maybe it's generational or maybe a rural/urban difference?
