if bush started bringing the troops home he'd look like a real jerk huh? |
|
no no no, can't turn tail and run like the liberals want to, gotta stay the curse, stay the curse, stay the curse.
it's the old 'finish the job' syndrome, the 'you break it you buy it' syndrome, the 'resolve and faith' syndrome.
that's the republican mindset talking there, it's not about making sense any more, it's about 'how we'd look' to the world if we pulled out like cowards.
pitiful.

2. It's more like, "The investigations begin when the troops come in" |

syndrome. Bush is buying himself time. And I'm afraid that I agree with the fellow on DU that another attack is just what Bush wants to keep the people from questioning his authority, because God knows that Americans stand together during times of war and anyone who dares to differ is considered unpatriotic.

5. impeachment would be a face saving way |
|
to end the war in an instant. we make the cabal go down and we're the heroes again. our country has been taken hostage and the world will hopefully forgive us the sins of our kidnappers and we can build a new national pride that in the face of continuous death and malicious feelings we had the compassion to stop the war and decide to become a peaceful member of the world again.

8. Dont think it is so easy |
|
I think the elected representatives has a big headaches on this one. The war is clearly illegal. And they have to take part of the shit. Also if they take that position US will be saddle with a HUMONGOUS damage claim. Fact is you deficit is so bad now and if that claim comes in it will fuck US to kingdom come. Catch 22. Either way bugger. Think they need to get drunk like Delay

4. He would just blame it on the librul's and the media bias |
|
and don't forget Clinton, he blames everything on him anyway because it's hard work. The Rove spin machine would find a way to make us the bad guy and them still the party of family values.

6. Bringing them home would be seen as admitting... |
|
that they are WRONG and they just can't have that.
Most of the neo-con bunch currently in power wouldn't know true "class" if it bit them on the butt. Even when proven wrong, shown to be liars and shown to be full of hooey they never admit they're wrong, they never admit they lied, they never back down off the "program" and they never apologize. I guess they figure if they brazen and bully it out somehow it will go away or become acceptable.
The more the neo-cons like Rove, Bolton, Cheney, etc open their mouths the more they look like the bullies and thugs they are inside.

7. He already does look like a real jerk, bringing home the troops |
|
shouldn't be about his ego, but about sound, well-thought out policy, which of course is unheard of in this administration.
Everything is all about him - not the troops, or the country, or the planet - but about him. It's ALL about how he is going to look, and he could give a damn about the right decision from the standpoint of the greater good.
He is so fucked, because no matter what he does he's going to look like an even bigger ass than he already is! Bwahahahhhahahahah!
I just hope that more people don't have to suffer for his pathetic little ego.

9. no. all he has to do is declare victory |
|
He just needs to say, "okay, Iraqis are ready to govern themselves now. Yea, them!"
Americans would buy that easily, and the rest of the world hates us anyway. Can't hardly hate us more.
No, US troops are still in Iraq because the neocons want them to be there.

13. Wouldn't This Be A Nice Mess To See Him Stutter With |
|
I feel the time is coming...either that or he'll have escallate things, including extended deployments (beyond the already stretched deployments), special needs draft and other games to buy time.
IMHO, this regime thought it could bribe peace in the area...that was their plan from the start. Buy off all the former Saddamites to exploit the oil and this was going to be the exit strategy. Something along the way screwed up...they took the money, bought guns and are now shooting back. Ooops.
However, it could be getting to a time where the Haliburtons and other exploiters are seeing diminishing returns and no long term gains. When that happens, we'll see this regime come up with some "Iragization" plan and pretend to withdraw troops...just replacing them with hired mercenaries.
The problem isn't Bunnypants and I expect he can string this invasion out all the way through 2008, but it's a political liability to his party and there'll come a point where the war's unpopularity finally gets enough Repugnican Congresscritters to break ranks with the big money wing of the party. I don't see that happening anytime soon...and surely not before the 2006 elections.
The regime has set up the blame game if there is an abrupt pull-out on Democrats...look at Rove's comments and many others. Our "pull out" would have been caused by a defeatist attitude by the "librul media" (very willing whipping boys in this role) and allow this regime to duck any real responsibility. While I want this carnage to end, not enough American do to start putting real pressure on this regime to really do something about it.
