Important talking point for conversations with shrub supporters, re: Iraq |
|
Simply point out the shortfall in the people enlisting in the armed services compared to those who reportedly voted for the shrub.
This doesn't have to be done in any accusatory, finger pointing way. In fact it can even be kind of matter of fact, without even "taking one side" or another, just saying what a shame that all the people who presumably endorsed the Iraq policy don't feel the drive to make the most important sacrifice for this most important cause.
If they are like a typical Repub, i.e. they'd never enlist or have their kid join up, the implication for themselves will be quite apparent even if you are not specifically addressing them. If they get defensive, well heck, you weren't talking about THEM, just the general phenomenon of people nationally not wanting to put their money (flesh and blood) where their "mouth" is.

And when they point out that "we dont support the troops" ask them if they have at least given out care package or sent phone cards to them. Youll be amazed at how many people in this country thinks patriotism just means saluting a flag and placing a ribbion on thier car.
