Here's a wacky thought. How about a last-minute Repub candidate? |
|
Obviously, this is a pipe dream, but let's turn the Republican rhetoric about Hillary running once Bush's ratings are low enough around on them for a moment.
If he's really so vulnerable, what's to keep somebody like Chuck Hagel or John McCain from fighting for the nomination?
Wow, wouldn't that makes things terribly interesting?
Of course, the Repubicans live for unity, even if they're united behind a moron, so it'll never happen. But, it's interesting to consider, hmm?

4. Actually, I'm surprised, in a way, |
|
that he didn't run as a Republican. That may have been the *real* reason why he took so long to announce that he was running.
By primary season, Bush could be easy pickings. Clark probably had to decide which side offered the better opportunity. Though, it appears that he stuck to his underlying beliefs and picked the correct party!

that this is more than a remote possibility. If you throw in the possibility of a right-leaning third party or independent candidate, I'd say there's a 99% chance that Bush will face a challenge from the right.
Think about it, a candidate who remained true to every Bush proposition but opposed "nation-building" and the Patriot Act, would have some appeal.
(on edit: appeal to the right, of course.)

5. A few weeks ago, I would have thought this was nuts |
|
but not so anymore. The Repugs have got to be worried, as well they should be. However, I do think there's going to be a "surprise" in the form of good news that they are holding back. Osama or Saddam captured/killed, real WMD's,(planted) or something.
(Yes, I subscribe to the vast right-wing conspiracy theories.)

10. Based on his recent history, |
|
he'd probably win the nomination and then say, "VOTE FOR MY OPPONENT!!"

11. I'm surprised there isn't a Draft John McCain group out there |
|
There isn't, is there? I know a lot of people who would LOVE to see him fighting George Jr. for the nomination.
