55. problem is, if the prick dies on us, and there is impeachment
they will find some way to pin it all on the 'dead guy'. Oh yeah, the dead guy DID do all that evil shit ! Well, he is dead now, so we can be glad and just move on, right?

That is what they will do if the prick dies. Among other things.

31. Good advice, but it should extend a bit
After all, if I became an evil puppeteer who masterminded the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of innocent people so I could steal more money than twelve generations of my family could spend, then I'd say people should wish I was dead.

Or, you could look at it this way: If you are a young child in Iran and know that this monster is coming for you next, wouldn't you be relieved if he died? And wouldn't you dislike someone else who wanted to remain alive so he could kill you?

Karma is all perspective.

Disclaimer: these are hypotheticals discussed only because of the topic of this thread, and I in no way would endorse any attempts to bring harm to any member of that slimy gang of murderers.

Haven't sniffed around it myself today.

Yeah, maybe they had to put him in cardiac unit cuz there are no microwaves there? We KNOW he wouldn't fib to us about anything.

Somebody posted yesterday that he was in under the name of Dr. Hoffman. Somebody else pointed out they thought a Dr. Hoffman wans the guy that whipped up the first batch of LSD.

He's evil, but not totally lacking in a sense of irony.

It's that moment of realization he'll go through just as he is dying, when for the eternity of the rest of his life he will be in agony of who and what he really is.

29. Zhade, please post more. LOTS more!

I just clicked on the link "How the DLC Does It" in your sig, and it is most enlightening. I've always hated them, but I really didn't know the worst of it. Thank you.

As for hoping the Dick is Cheneyed the way he deserves, I don't care how it happens, just that it happens. For those feeling some liberal guilt about harboring ill will, try to remember that it is merely his karma--he Cheneyed us and we don't have to think kind thoughts. This is a guy who never had a kind thought in his sleazy life.

Indeed, any discomfort Cuckoobananas may be feeling at avalanching poll numbers and Cheney's incapacity, brings hope to the free world.

1. We'd be upset if the Freeptards were wishing the same upon Bill Clinton during his heart surgery;

2. If he dies now, he escapes justice. I'd so much rather see him in the docket answering for his crimes.

21. I Don't Start Up The Negative Stuff On Anyone
Not usually. Especially when it comes to sickness and death. I have been on the other side of the coin and its not fun. Granted, he isn't a wonderful politician and he has made some serious and inexcusable mistakes for this country. But I am sure his family and the ones who love him don't see him as anything other than a beloved father, friend, etc. That pain is very hard to deal with when a loved one is in the hospital. :)

40. But how many more
families will suffer if he lives? He lied to start a war that killed 100K innocent people, and he is now aiming at Iran. That's a lot of suffering to look forward to for the sake of alleviating one family's suffering. For that matter, not even alleviating, just delaying, since he will die one day, anyway.

Not saying I want him to die, just playing counterpoint.

48. I Dont Think Death
wished upon anyone is a good thing. Change? Keeping Cheney out of anymore political choices and not hurting anymore people? Yes! Absolutely. But I do think that those thoughts do come back to haunt us. Taking anyones life is not good, hence your point about the people that have already died because of his choices. I think its a never ending cycle. At some point we have to rise above the desire to just hurt and kill.

43. You know the answer
Of course it is wrong to wish death upon anyone. What does it even mean to have liberal values if you wish death upon your political adversaries? Think of the great liberals of the past century: Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, and Gandhi (your avatar)- what would they say?

Needless to say, most of us (including myself), are not nearly as noble as the men mentioned above; thus, it is understandable that your gut reaction is to want Cheaney to die. However, you probably shouldn't discuss your hope that he dies on the DU message board. Inevitably, it makes DU look bad - not just in the eyes of conservatives, but in the eyes of moderates, and those who believe that liberal values should be universal. John Conyers proudly attached his good name with the people of DU. He should not have to defend himself for aligning with a group which has members which say they hope that the vice president dies. This kind of talk makes DU look bad, and makes the politicians who align with DU look bad.

I understand that your intent was good and decent, in asking this question about an emotion that you cannot control. I really hope I don't sound like an asshole by giving such a negative response. I just really think that threads like these can do damage to the grassroots of the Democratic Party, and that's something we'd all like to avoid.

In light of the following forum guideline, I'm locking this thread.

Thanks for your consideration.

(quote from the DU forum rules)

Do not post messages that could be construed as advocating harm or death to the president or other high-ranking official in the United States government. In the case of the president, do not even post jokes, as the Secret Service is not known for its sense of humor.
