DSM is NOT dying - it is aging well!
I have read several threads here today voicing frustration about the DSM dying now. Several points:

1. Yes, we were a little burnt out with all the letter writing and phone calling. That kind of momentum is hard to sustain indefinitely.

2. It got coverage with Conyer's hearing, a lot of press and I think we are all sat back and just enjoyed the slew of articles that came out.

3. We have been distracted with our Rove outrage.

4. I opened my paper today to see a FRONT PAGE ARTICLE in it.

5. The U.K.Sunday Times published another big article on it. This (and several other new articles) have been circulating today.

6. Russert added a casual DSM question in his interview with Rumsfeld. It is now MAINSTREAM enough that it will be part of most, if not all, of major interviews questioning how the war is going vs. how they said it will go.

7. LTTE and Opinion pieces are still coming out daily. I get Yahoo and Google alerts on DSM and there is ALWAYS something - every day!

So buck up, little campers! I am enjoying the wait for Rawstory's addition on the build-up to war. If it does nothing else - the DSM will help prevent the American public from believing any more lies that this administration tries to dish out. The press is already taking potshots at Cheney and the Boys. Something they dared not do 7 short months ago. Things have changed, turned a corner. This administration's lies and deceptive ways, and scare tactics have been exposed to Americans who are not a politically aware as the average DUer. They are beginning to look at Bush and this war, and get a bad taste in their mouth. We have already won a major victory with the DSM, but more are to come!

1. I Heard Molly Ivins Wrote A Piece For Common Dreams....
but I haven't seen it yet. There were a few others that covered it, but we need to keep it FRONT & CENTER (left??)!

Conyers has said the hearing was just the beginning.... so let's keep helping him out!

3. I am sorry its dying for the simple fact that out of its entirety about
ten words were important and those ten words didn't tell us anything we did already know as fact. Bush lied and Bush was screwing around with the intelligence to make his case. Not exactly a revelation was it.

4. WE knew it as fact, but the general
public was not made aware of it by the media until now. We knew about the Office of Special Plans but the public as a whole had now idea there was such a thing.

5. The did they just didn't care and they still don't
I am sorry I am just very much a cynic and since before the election every day I keep seeing threads uttering victory when there is none. We keep hoping for a miracle to get rid of Bush before 2008 and I don't see it happening. What we have to do is get ready to fight in 2006 and take back the Senate and the House if we can. There we can stop Bush from destroying this country anymore. We have to stop building people up with false hopes and get into the trenches and face reality and start fighting. Now don't get me wrong I am not saying we shouldn't try and find all the dirt we can on Bush to get rid of him or at least cripple him but lets stop howling that we have won when we haven't

7. A Good Head Up
:grouphug:

The DSM news coverage is not for us (ahem) informed people.
Rather its for the majority of the people out there who does not know about it or what it means. Yeah its slow, but every step every tiny articles means we are spreading the news. Yeah, lets not expect miracles, its going to be a long slow journey ( do triple somersault rant and rave from frustration of the snails pace ) but we get there
cause we have an objectives and we have the faith and the resolve to
travel to journey end. And yes we dont like to put the soldiers in harms way for a lie.

Hehe would like to use all Chimp favourite phases but hey think that be too much.

9. Another interesting Google news alert is...
..."impeach Bush".

I get that one and the DSM alert, and both deliver one or more links a day (sometimes quite a few). It's fun to watch this story not go away.

10. Biggest effect of the DSM:

"If it does nothing else - the DSM will help prevent the American public from believing any more lies that this administration tries to dish out."

This is the best we could hope for. Enough publicity to get it through Americans' thick skulls that bu$hit lied and to put his credibility where it belongs: in the crapper.

The outing of the DSM was a turning point in regards to how bu$hit is received in the media and in the public eye. For that reason, it is very important, even if it has no other effects - if only to put bu$hit's lies in proper perspective and in black and white for all to see.
