Bush will get clobbered on "Eminent Domain"
His press secretary claims that Bush is very supportive of prperty rights. Really? How did he use Eminent Domain to build his Texas Ball Park and make his millions? This is a bit from Buzzflash:

- "In April of 1991, the RANGERS shepherded through the Legislature a bill written by Arlington State Representative Kent Grusendorf, which would create the Arlington Sports Facilities Development Authority, a quasi-governmental entity endowed with the power of eminent domain." Bush was part owner of the Rangers. Made $16 million from the deal on a "borrowed" $600,000.00 investment

I remember that family that had their home taken away. A story totally ignored by the media during the first election. Remember Whitewater?

1. The story was ignored then, it will be ignored forever.
The "librul" media quite faithfully buries stories that are not favorable for *.

4. that is a two way sword
first of all the fifth amendment to the constitution of the United States allows for eminent domain:

Amendment V

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation

The courts have 99% of the time interpreted "...private property be taken for public use, without just compensation" to also mean for the public good, which may include tax revenue

Many of these courts have been liberal courts

This crosses both sides, and is a no win issue for both sides. It would NOT be a wise thing to bring up

6. So Bush likes a "liberal court" when it suits him. Doesn't he?
If it was allowed by "liberal courts" so much the worse for Bush. He looks a complete hypocrite.

7. the is NOT a good issue for the democrats
they are just as bad as the repukes on this one

It will definitely back fire on us

The best they can do is try to repeal parts of the 5th amendment to the constitution, or get involved in state laws

It is a no win

11. The Dems deserve to be held accountable for their silence, too.
Laws with teeth to protect private property could have stopped this corporatist nonsense before it became entwined with the Constitution.

5. Really? They're already blaming "libuurls" for this.
As if we wanted this. Because Kennedy, Souter, ginsberg, etc. voted for it, then "those libuuurls" must've wanted it. These are NOT liberal judges, they are moderates, and we sould tell them every chance we get.

We're the ones taking a bath on this and it's not even our fault.

10. Just out of curiosity, who will bring this up, and how will it be seen
as "relevant".

I mean, of course I understand it.

But the media has been silent so far on Bush's hypocrisy in every other aspect of his life.

Why will this be any different?
