Rove comments: softening the resistance to Iran invasion?
I was just reading a story about the White House response to the Karl Rove shitstorm when something occured to me (sorry if someone else posted this idea first).

We know they want to go into Iran. We know (via Scott Ritter) that operations have already begun. I think that they are getting ready to make an announcement.

My suspicion is that the announcement will soon come that Osama Bin Laden is hiding in Iran, under the protection of the Iranian government. The United States of America is going to go in there and get him. And any liberals that urge restraint for any reason are weak and soft on terrorism and haven't learned the lessons of 9/11.

Just like Karl Rove said they were.

1. With what troops?
My guess is that they'll have Israel attack Iran's nuclear facilities.

2. I am fearing that * think he can just do an air war
and Iran will be all nice and happy with us.

I believe Iran will take out a carrier with a Sunburn missles and hit our troops in Iraq with real WMD...

6. * would be dumb enough to think an air war would work....
because history and experience apparently don't teach him anything. And if the US attacked Iran, you'd have to think that even Britain would bail on us. There would be no coalition of anything.

16. What make you think that would stop them?
Pointing out the obvious didn't stop them before. Why would it do the trick now?

3. He will need like
300,000 troops or more Iran no push over
They got all those nice Russian missile.
It will be bloody with very high casualities.
They will likely attack Afghanistan and Iraq if they get attack
And I bet you the Iraqies and Afghanistan people will take up arms again the US.

Maybe if US attack in 10 years time possible right now no way.

8. I was thinking about that too
I doubt he'll announce anything that big, but I'm pretty sure he'll ramp up the rhetoric on Iran -- you know, they're supporting terrorists, blablabla.

11. With what troops
Iraq is all bogged down so is Afghanistan. Iran has lots of military hardware from Russia. That US will face the Jihad, Iran will issue a call for sure. 500,000 jihadists coming to help is no joke.
All middle east bases will be under seige.

However if the neocon do attack. Then all the General should be sack.
Cause this is stupidity of the highest order.

13. there is where teh draft comes in
yuo can have a bunch of green draftees produced in three months... not shitting you, of course this conscript army will not be to teh standards of the hardened profesional troops, so you use your profesionals to attack Iran and send the draftees to patrol Iraq...

Yes feel free to shoot as many holes as you want in this, it has many, but reality does not matter to these people

5. Iran and Iraq are 2 very different countries
the topography of Iran is far different as well as it's size alone, also Iran has triple the population of Iraq. I don't see a ground invasion there at all, there is no way but a campaign of Ariel strikes, maybe but i still doubt that.

10. Isn't the ultimate goal of PNAC to have
domination of the region and its resources? That's why I don't think an air war is in the cards by itself, certainly though as a prelude to a ground invasion.

Clearly, we don't have the troops. But I do thing, based on Ritter and also Porter Goss's comments about the "excellent idea" where Osama is, that something is coming.

I hope I'm wrong. Maybe I'm just seeing connections between things where none actually exist.
