Just got an Email saying BBV has been shutdown by Diebold
Edited on Wed Sep-24-03 10:55 AM by Patriot_Spear
Is this true?

BREAKING: *DIEBOLD SHUTS DOWN BLACKBOXVOTING.ORG*
The Voting Fraud experts are trying to shut us up........ Share this with everyone you can and write to your Senators, the media & anyone else who can spread the word about these crooks. This is a crock

9/23/03 BREAKING: DIEBOLD SHUTS DOWN BLACKBOXVOTING.ORG http://www.blackboxvoting.org/

Note that Diebold is going after sites that merely LINK to copies of their software and memos on other servers! Is it obvious that Diebold has something to hide? The American people need to make it known that they will NOT vote with Diebold or with any other voting system that demands such secrecy. The burden of proof is on the US Government and the voting companies to prove the election system is honest and fair. If the voting system is not honest, then We The People are not obligated to pay the bills of that same government. That Diebold is going to such extremes to keep the facts about their voting systems hidden from the public calls the entire election system's legitimacy into question.

2. TO the BBV crowd
please look into http://www.xs4all.nl

these people have a lot of experience with this type of stuff (copyright claims and shutting down of sites). They will not bow to pressure. (the $cientologists tried for years). You should move your site to their servers and go from there. This stuff is far too important to get killed like this.

6. What does it say about our country
that in order for what may be the single most important news story of the 2004 election to be heard that the information has to be moved out of the United States because the legal system is being used to silence critics? Is freedom this far gone?

17. Fascism is a bipartisan issue
Remember: the freedoms that you're complaining about losing were taken away by Clinton. What this says about America is that both parties have an unhealthy attraction to fascism.

3. Where is the link to the emails in Italy?
Can't they just start over somewhere outside the country? How will this help them anyway?

9. Contact the EFF immediately
http://www.eff.org

This is an issue they are experts in. They can help and can provide legal counsel (and probably free legal counsel)

10. This story should be in the mainstream media
BBV has been in way out in front on exposing Diebold for their fraudulent ways, and they are being silenced by the Fascists.

I sure hope Bev Harris and her crew have a good legal team to support them. We need the ACLU, NAACP, LULAC and all other organizations who fight for voting rights to join this research.

Greg Palast would be interested in this story, I think.

12. Note that the discussion board at http://www.blackboxvoting.com/ is up
The site that the ISP shut down due to the Diebold dispute is the .org site.

The web board at http://www.blackboxvoting.com is up and they story there is that the ISP bowed to Diebold pressure. They are looking for a new web host for that site.

I e-mailed the Tech Writer (Farhad Manjoo) at Salon magazine that wrote this week's article, and maybe he could add a follow up story on Diebold's tactics. Or maybe they'll sue Salon too.

"An open invitation to election fraud"
http://salon.com/tech/feature/2003/09/23/bev_harris/index.html

I still think Senator Max Cleland needs to get into this fight and sue Diebold himself then all these memos become part of the court case. He has good cause to sue them for voting fraud that cost him his senate seat in GA.

18. BBV page:
___________________________NOTICE____________________________________________

Due to a dispute with Diebold, Incorporated, and its wholly owned subsidiary Diebold Election Systems, Inc. (collectively "Diebold"), which is claiming links to certain materials that do not reside on the blackboxvoting.org website constitute copyright infringement, blackboxvoting.org has been temporarily disabled.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause visitors and journalists to the blackboxvoting.org site and hope to have this matter resolved shortly.

In the interim, send questions or information requests to bev_blackboxvoting@yahoo.com.

19. This is now in the London Inquirer
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=11743

Diebold takes down blackboxvoting.org

DIEBOLD ELECTION SYSTEMS has brandished lawyers' threats to take down that pesky citizens activist website blackboxvoting.org. It seems they charged copyright infringement regarding materials on other websites that blackboxvoting.org merely linked to, despite such links having been ruled legal by appellate courts in other instances.
