Quick question...
I heard this weekend that casualties in Iraq were only counted if they die on Iraqi soil. If the soldier dies in a hospital in Turkey or in Germany, they don't count, and the death toll from the war is actually considerably higher.

Is this correct? If so, is there a source?

Thanks in advance.

2. No, that is a rumor that went around but not reliable
Someone posted last week to stop that rumor because at least one of the family members of someone that has died would have seen their loved one NOT on that list and exposed it. I believe that the media is reporting real numbers

5. This is a myth
All casualties are included in the total count reported by the media, which I believe stands at 1,742.

7. I've heard it too, but also heard it debunked.
OTOH, if a soldier succumbs to his/her wounds six weeks, or six months after being injured, is he/she counted then?

Since we are not allowed to witness the coffins coming in, the administration is either 1) hiding something; or 2) too stupid to realize that by giving the impression of hiding something they are creating the rumors themselves.

I tend to think (1).

If we are recruiting heavily of non-citizens, are the non-citizen casualties being reported equally? If a soldier's whole family is in Guatamala, would anybody in the states know if he was being left off the casualty rolls?
