She really is a bright articulate woman. The woman can rant with the best of them.

12. She's informed and passionate. She doesn't always give good phone though.
She gets too impatient and tends to talk over people, friend or foe.

But she's Brooklyn through and through. I love that.

2. Sometimes, she gets pretty testy
But I thought she was right on point calling him on his Christian values, talking behind her back. There comes a point when dialogue with these type of people needs to end on that kind of note.

8. I've been listening to Randi for years in southern Florida.
She doesn't suffer fools lightly and has days where she can be a total pain in the ass and won't take shit from anyone.

Take the good with the "bad." She's one of the best spokespersons on the air for liberalism.

How about we quit spitting on her and help her attack the fascist pigs who are out to destroy us. That's who she attacks daily.

If Randi is occasionally rude, crude, socially unacceptable, frustrated, sick of assholes and short-tempered, aren't we all?

Whatever you believe to be her shortcomings, think about what you would do if you were sitting in front of that microphone and had to deal with those she has to deal with four hours a day, five days a week.

Anytime you get pissed at her, remember: she's fighting for us.

9. You don't have to convince me.
Edited on Mon Jun-27-05 04:13 PM by americanstranger
I'm a fan, have been for years. I think I spent the first month she was on AAR defending her from people who came on this board and griped about how annoying she was

The very first Action Alert that Take Back The Media ever ran was called 'Why Isn't Randi Rhodes Syndicated?' She actually credited us with helping to get the ball rolling on what turned into AAR.

Your assertion that I'm 'spitting on her' is a little bit hyperbolic. I did no such thing.

Just making an observation. Dial it back a little.

16. Dear americanstranger: In no way was I accusing you of spitting on her.
It was a general statement regarding many people I've heard who complain, bitch, criticize, and just plain crap on her. In no way did you do any of that, nor was I implying that.

Unlike Rush's zombies, too many on "our side" complain about Randi. In a way, that's not all bad. After all, we're Dems, not people who march in goose step. I fully appreciate what you were saying, but there was no accusation intended in my comments.

19. I wasn't even really criticizing her.
Like I said, I was just making an observation.

I'm pretty good friends with Randi. I get a christmas card from her every year. I call in pretty often to her show. I've had my original music and a couple of song parodies played on her show. And she's gracious enough to promote my web sites on occasion, which she absolutely does not have to do.

If I wasn't happily married, I'd be lusting after her this very minute. :)

Maybe I just worry about my friends. I also get concerned that Malloy's going to tach out when he goes off on his rants some nights.

She just sounded bugged for a while there. That's all I was saying.

ME TOO! Even though I don't know Malloy personally, like you do, every night he goes into his rant my thoughts go to, "Please calm down Mike. You're gonna have a stroke!" If we lost him, I would die. I can't live without my Malloy and Randi daily fixes. :)

How's Symbolman doin'? Did he recuperate from his trip to DC? How's the DVD coming along?

To your OP...Randi is not a happy camper today. I can hardly blame her. Living under this regime puts me in a surly mood too. It's enough to keep you in a perpetual pissy mood. :)

26. Sym is slowly recovering from the trip.
He goes into great detail about the trip on this week's TBTM Radio, which will be live on the site shortly...

He's got a big pile of DVDs done, but he's got a little ways to go before they're all done. We'll keep you posted.

29. To anyone wondering about the DVDs here
I sent out over 70 on Saturday but the response has overwhelmed my printer cartridge in the DVD replicator - it died, and of course being new technology I have to order from the manufacturer -

BUT, we ordered an overnight delivery yesterday (tho overnight means add one more day in Hawaii) so the MINUTE I get the cartridge I'll be slamming it into the machine and printing the already burned DVDs and shipping them the same day..

I've been a little embarrassed over this as I promised to get these babies out before the end of the week, then this printer problem appeared, so I apologise for that.

Some folks will be getting their DVDs as early as today (east coasters) and I will be looking out the window for the FedEx guy like a kid staying home from school sick, waiting for his X-Ray glasses to show up in the mail :)

More people are donating than ever as well, they want this important piece of history in their hands, to show to everyone they can - I've suggested house parties, pass the popcorn and the letters to sign and send to the media, the White House, the Capitol, etc and keep this subject on the tip of everyone's tongues.. which is looks like the Wash Post is doing today!

Every DVD order will be filled within days, that I guarantee, and again apologies for my replicator printer going south..

14. Spitting on her?
No one's spitting on her. The comments made about her are pretty mild. I never have a problem with her when she's giving back to the right-winger jerks who call in. But sometimes she just cuts people down who are on our side but just don't express it as clearly as she would like.

Most of the time she's funny and fantastic. But sometimes she is just rude to people. When she irritates me I turn her off.

15. Exactly Cyrano.
I don't know what I would have done without Randi after this election. She makes me feel like someone is really out there screaming 'I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!' And she's reaching millions more people than when she was in Florida. She simply rocks, warts and all.

10. It's classic Randi
Edited on Mon Jun-27-05 04:12 PM by blondie333
The two callers who tried to persuade her to tone it down were shot down! That's Randi. I've been listening to her for years, trust her sources and information but there are times when I wish she would tone it down. If we're to make a point, we need rational, just the facts, passionate people. Her outbursts can sometimes be a detriment to the message.

11. she got me so upset
I know she was all bent out of shape by that troll, but it drives me nuts when she turns on liberals who are trying to help her. She gets a script going in her head, and she just won't listen when people say they didn't mean what she says they meant. I think the speaker should be the last word on what she or he meant and said. It's childish when Randi says "Oh yes you did!" to people who said "I didn't mean that."

Damn, I LOVE Randi, and she certainly has a right to say ANYTHING SHE WANTS on her show. I Just wish she'd slow down and listen to people sometimes! She takes everything so personal. We need more stability from her. She shouldn't be scolding well-meaning friends on the air. (Please Randi? Luvya!)

My husband said "Is she a smoker?" Yes! That was it--she got upset and then couldn't smoke in the studio.

Check it out, she's like a different person since after the break--she must have graabbed a ciggy.

13. She's a neurotic with a heart of gold. The fact that she takes all of this
so personally is also what gives her the passion she has. I wouldn't have her any other way, she's Randi.

I love the way she smack THUGS down! At least with Liberal radio stations, we let the THUGS talk for little bit and than, we shut them down! Not like Republicans talk radio, they won't even let liberal talk at all!

25. I understood her frustration
I've had friends and family make helpful suggestions on how I could expand my efforts and they are always from the same people that don't do anything themselves. It's hard to take sometimes, especially when you're already feeling vulnerable or like Randi today, just been attacked.

23. She is tough and she is focused and she is passionate.
When you're tough, focused and passionate,...you can be misinterpreted. You can also be cranky.

She is strong enough to cope with information that would cause a LOT of people to tank. But, that information can cause even the strongest of folks to veer towards impatience and, on occasion, tears.

She is tough, focused, passionate,....and human. I admire her greatly.
