The Constitution recognizes no higher authority than "We The People" |
|
Other than a pro forma "year of our Lord" prior to the preamble, the Constitution of the United States is an utterly God/Jesus/Bible free document and was purposefully written that way.
Where do the wingnuts keep coming up with the idea that the United States is a Christian Nation?
The only sovereign that the Constitution recognizes is "We the People," an idea completely incompatable with Ashcroft's "We have no king but Jesus."

We don't need no stinkin' facts, we decide what really happened.

what the framers were truly thinking when they wrote it!
It doesn't matter what it actually says - they have made up myths that they were all devout Christians who really wanted this to be a fundamentalist Christian nation.
They also conveniently forget that the first settlers were escaping religious persecution when they came here.
