Some of us just don't have it :( If a bus would come out to where we live I'd use it all the time. The car can just sit and be used only for emergencies or other times when public transportation won't do.
Why not more public transportation? It seems that with the higher gas prices the cities might make more use of it with the possible extra revenue.

3. Haha. I know what you mean. |

I was bummed when I found out that I could take the bus to class, but not home... also, the only busses out by me only run about once every hour, if that. Not so convenient.
Not to mention the fact that Detroit just cut something like $3 mil from the public transportation budget...

In SoCal the public transportation issue has been argued back and forth by many people on both sides for a long LONG time. I don't know if it's necessarily Communist (and I don't know that it isn't, either) but for the working poor, the bus can be a life saver. They want to raise gas prices, and yet not offer people any alternative, it sucks. I must admit PT has improved since I was using it to get to school and work, but there are major kinks still to be ironed out. I recently heard that Gov. Scwarzenegger...(sp?) wants to put some of the "gas tax back into our communities"(sounds like a good idea) hopefully that means more busses with better/ more routes and schedules, and get some of OC's roads back in drivable shape. Don't know about Detroit (or anywhere out of Cali) but maybe your local representatives would be open to suggestions..?
