6. That means NO. Corporations are for profit.
A private company may have a moral or social purpose.

"Air America Radio" is a private company with a social purpose.

4. That's true. Primary job of a CEO is resposiblity to the stockholders.
That however doesn't prevent them from operating as responsible corporate citizens either.

I know Gates is a Pub, but he and his copany does a whole lot for charity too!

I think the people you are talking about are WM, and companies like them who aren't as much interested in taking care of people as they are linking their own pockets.

depending on the corporate culture itself. How it treats its employees, its customers, and the kinds of things it does to give back to the community it serves.

These things aren't always apparent to the 'bottom line' but, in the long run, I think being a responsible, concerned corporate "citizen" is to their advantage.

corporation. Seems that there's been precious little of that in the past few decades.
