Tired of Support the Troops magnets?
I've had enough, especially after hearing about Rumsfeld's estimate of 10-12 more years in Iraq. Don't you think it's time to call upon these good people who openly flaunt their patriotism and support for W to put their actions where their mouths are?

I think we should we start putting notes on their windshields saying something like "I never supported this war and won't send my kids. Since you're so patriotic, do the right thing. Join the army or send your family. More than anything else, our troops need new blood over there so they can finally come home. Otherwise, let's demand this illegal war end and our troops come home. Thanks for caring about our troops!"

Eventually, we can start coming out and just saying it directly to them. Make them squirm for a change.

I bet those magnets would start coming off pretty quick. More important, they might just think about the message they're sending.

You don't support the troops?
That's what will be said. It'll be 'who cares if you don't support the war. We should support the troops'.

I think it'll backfire.

10. How about this: "Support the Troops. Enlist."
Short, sweet, and to the point.

Oh, no.

6. That was my other idea
Put enlistment applications on their windshields or just hand them out.

5. Give them the address to the US Treasury so they can financially
support the troops. Tell'em to write out a check, or better yet, shred their refund check.

7. Those magnets are supporting China, not the troops
The troops don't get one penny from the purchase of those magnets.
Someone in China is a very wealthy person these days.

11. RIGHT ON!!!!!! I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to scream
out my window to these people: "How, how do you support the troops??!?!" So, I've come up with a better (to me) solution. When I run into one of them in a parking lot I'll say this: "You know, I just sent a really nice donation to Walter Reed hosptital where a significant number of our injured young men and wome are(since chances are they have no idea what Walter Reed hospital is).continuing...." I find it so heartwarming that you support our troops. I'm looking for other ideas - since Bob Hope's dead and I can't go tour with him- to support our troops. What are you doing? I'm just so curious. (and then just pause and hear what they say).

Those should be covering cars these days. Just not sure enough people would understand the difference. I want America to wake up and stop acting so insane.

14. Those things have made me not support the troops.
If supporting the troops means I have to be a carbon copy of everyone else, I guess I don't support them.

17. Well they don't bother me that much, but -
You say, "...we can start coming out and just saying it directly to them. Make them squirm for a change. I bet those magnets would start coming off pretty quick."

Um, couldn't they come off pretty quick just because the ARE magnets? It strikes me that if one had a mind to peel them off in an unseen instant, one could at least rationalize it by thinking that if the car-owner REALLY felt strongly about the whole "troops" thing, they would have gotten a BUMPER-STICKER or something like that actually (gasp) sticks the message to the car?

The popularity of these easy-off magnets seems to reveal a certain unseriousness about the point people are trying to make with them.

18. Actually I've noticed them disappearing pretty quickly around here.
I pointed it out to my husband and after a couple of days he said "you know, you're right, I hardly ever see them anymore!"

They used to be on fully 3/4 of the vehicles you saw on the road and now I bet it's not even 1/4. Someone told me they fade really badly and pretty fast. So apparently people have been taking them off. It was just a fad. :eyes:
