I received a "so-called" AAR promotion from XM radio today
Maybe I am not reading things correctly but I sure don't see any special pricing.

It would also be nice to see if they are going to piece meal Randi Rhodes and Mike Malloy, interspearsed with Alan Colmes.

Doesn't look attractive to me. I am probably keeping Sirius

Here was the context of the email I received:

Dear Loyal Air America Radio Listeners:

Air America Radio and XM Satellite Radio would like to offer you a special promotion. The promotion will last from June 28th, 2005 to July 5th, 2005.

Please use the following link and access key to find this exclusive promotion just for you:

(this link will take you to XM's site)

Access key: AIRAMERXM

Kind regards,

Air America Radio & XM Satellite Radio

5. Mike Malloy 1AM to 5AM? Bullshit. I was going to buy XM but not now.
I won't buy from either one. Screw 'em.

7. That's the current pre-switchover line-up.
According to what I've been told by folks at AAR, after the July 11 switch, XM will carry the entire AAR lineup.

14. The same reason they don't advertise every other line-up change
it's not where they chose to spend their ad dollars.

15. I mean why don't they put it on their web site
or at least include it in the promotional where they are trying to attrack Sirius listeners to XM

16. The same reason they don't put changes to line-ups on other stations
on their website. They just don't consider it important enough. Hell, it took AAR themselves 2 weeks or more to update their site when Liz Winstead left "Unfiltered" and again when the show was cancelled and Springer took it's place.

To them shifting one or two shows from a line-up isn't worthy of note.

18. Well, I probably won't leave Sirius anyway
but even if I did, I would wait until I say that the AAR schedule was intact, and would like to see what they replace the AAR slot on Sirurs with

4. AAR Can Bite Me!
I purchased Sirius strictly for Air America. I chose Sirius over XM because they have been carrying the full AAR line-up.

I am not giving up Sirius and will NOT purchase XM. I am hoping with the open space vacated by AAR, Sirius will broadcast the full 3 hours of Thom Hartmann (12:00pm - 3:00pm EDT) and Stephanie Miller (9:00am - 12:00pm EDT).

Air America screwed a lot of people. I will miss Randi and Malloy though. I will stream their shows when I can.

22. That's pretty much how I feel
I got this special promotion email as well. It seems to be a follow-up from the 6/14/05 email:

"> Dear Loyal Air America Radio Listeners:
>
> As you are aware, beginning July 11th, Air America Radio will broadcast exclusively with XM
Satellite Radio. This partnership is giving us an extra leg to stand on, allows us to develop
more programming, and moves us forward into the future with a strong foundation.
>
> We recognize that this change has inconvenienced you. We greatly value your support for Air
America Radio and would like to offer you a special promotion from Air America Radio and XM
Radio, which we intend to send out next week.
>
> Thank you very much for expressing your concerns to us, for your patience during this time of
transition, and most important of all, for your continued support for Air America Radio.
>
> Kind regards,
>
> Air America Radio"

After I got this, I sent a reply:

"Dear Air America Radio:

In your recent email, you stated, "beginning July 11th, Air America Radio will broadcast
exclusively with XM Satellite Radio." Why you decided that both XM and Sirius should have the
Fox News Channel without the balance of Air America is beyond me. However, your email raises a
couple of important points.

First of all, I don't think you meant this to be taken literally, since what you wrote would
mean this exclusivity would extend to terrestrial radio stations in addition to XM and Sirius
satellite radio. I think your intent was that only the loyal listeners of Sirius satellite
radio, the ones who got Sirius because of their COMPLETE broadcasts of Air America radio, those
Sirius listeners were about to have their broadcasts cut off. I believe you meant to say that
the lucky listeners who are actually able to receive your broadcasts from one of those severely
underpowered terrestrial radio stations can still get them. Would this be correct?

In addition, you stated that a "special promotion from Air America Radio and XM Radio" would be
on its way. Well, since your respresentative, Ms. Randi Rhodes, strongly recommended Sirius
service over XM on her program, I'm sure you realize the legal problem that Air America and XM
could face.

Thus, please be advised I had purchased a portable Sirius radio from Radio Shack with
attachments for use in home and car as well as a lifetime subscription. I would expect a fair
"special promotion" to completely compensate me with the same product and service that I had
originally obtained based on the recommendation of your representative.

However, something tells me that won't be happening. Consequently, I'd settle for an apology
for screwing the loyal Sirius listeners, which your recent email severely lacks.

Good luck with XM. Since your company has shown it can't be trusted, I won't be buying any XM
equipment to follow you there."

As you can imagine, there was no direct reply. Only the offer everyone else got.

6. Well, the prices are fairly good, for instance
you can get the Roady 2 (normally $99) plus the home kit (normally around $40) for $89 (for the package). That's not a bad savings.

9. They are already offering a two for one on the Roady hardware
without being a previous Sirius customer

I guess that you can get a single radio is a slight better deal

You have to pay an extra monthly service fee for the FREE unit. It's a rip off.

17. $6.99/month.
I got the twofer deal and I am certainly not sorry. I hooked up my truck and took the Roady to my barn since I spend so much time working out there. It is wonderful for me. Maybe it is because until I got XM and AAR I had never before in my entire life heard anything left of Limbaugh on my radio but to me the deal WAS a huge deal.

I almost bought Sirius earlier, I would be pissed too if I had done that.

19. I'm curious about SIRIUS ' options on this.
Under this deal, is Sirius BANNED from carrying ANYTHING from AAR, or can they just piecemeal certain shows from AAR's lineup, but not allowed to call it AAR? Sort of like the CC AM stations that have Ed Schultz on Randi's place. My AM car reception absolutely SUCKS, and I have no reason to switch to XM, because Sirius has given me no reason to be disappointed with them, which is the only reason I would switch.

What will happen to channel 144 after AAR goes off the air? Why do people like that obnoxiously bitchy Lynn Samuels? She hates Randi Rhodes too, she said so one day, so she's also a fan of the circular firing squad. Stupid old bat sounds like an old caked on makeup tramp in a Queens beauty shop, trying hard to channel Fran Drescher.

Anybody with Sirius know anything?

20. Only thing I heard was the 144 would contain progressive talk
If they don't, I would probably get rid of Sirius. At this time I won't get XM. Most of their programming does not interest me

21. I Haven't Heard This
I was hoping Sirius channel 144 would be progressive. Like I said in my previous post, I would LOVE to have the full Stephanie Miller and Thom Hartmann shows. Guy James should get a spot also. That would be terrific!
