Getting some really tough questions about the defense/iraq budget, halliburton contract, etc. Still sounds like a smug little bastard.

Comments made indicated they didn't like what Byrd said.

Rummy sure thinks he is Mr. Matinee idol.

He would have really gotten grilled.
As I saw it, he is being handed a sweet deal by the committee. The democrats tried, but I don't think they were ready. There was a republican member (I think from Utah) that said that this is not like Vietnam. He talked to soldiers that are in Iraq and they say that the press is lying and that everything in Iraq is going swimmingly.
Another one quoted Bremer's assistant with his little digital camera taking pictures of Iraqis spontaneously "swarming" the American helicopters when they go out into the countryside, Iraqis carrying signs expressing how much they love the Americans. This senator said that he is going to make those pictures public as much as he can to at least reach the "hard core" C-Span audience.

All the time, fawning from right and left on how wonderful Rumsfeld is... what is this all about?????

4. Byrd is on about "Marshall Plan" and "Mission creep"

adn we are trying to do it almost alone...... out of the pockets of the American taxpayers...Invasion was not unavoidable and it was not about an imminent threat........
