Poll question: Would you donate for an AAR ad for DU? |
|
Just trying to get a feel for how people would feel about donating to DU for an ad on Air America Radio which would hopefully increase membership and additional donations.

Skinner's concern was that people would stop donating to DU if they were donating seperately for an ad. :)

I donate to DU a couple of times a year. I don't plan to make an extra donation to DU if I donate to an AAR ad, but I plan to continue donating as I have.

Same here. I donate to DU when DU does the quarterly fundraiser. I would donate for a radio ad, and when the quarterly fundraiser came around again, I would donate then too.

amount given to DU and to pay for an Ad.

24. The other type of ads that would be most effective is ads on other |
|
web sites where Democrats and Progressive would frequent who may not even be aware that DU exists - news sites - Yahoo News, Google, CNN, MSNBC, and popular blogs that take ads.
When I FINALLY got the Internet, I actually found DU because I went to the regular news sites and Drudge because it was the only website I'd heard of on the Corp Media (of course, I hated it and knew it was RW crap - it was the first time I'd ever seen NewsMax, etc.). When googling Drudge, I saw the Sludge Report and I found DU from there - Now, I'll never leave :) .

My initial reaction to this is that AAR listeners already know about DU. If you're looking for exposure, you need to be advertising on the country station.
Perhaps the most effective placement would be Comedy Central.
But then I'm not a marketing person and this may be why.

but there are some 70,000 members here and millions of listeners to AAR - mega potential I think and the kind of people who would be positive about DU (I think).

you can hear it here: http://www.optruth.org/images/FE/chain154siteType6/site105/client/WeWereThereRadio.mp3They have a page saying "get this ad on the air" by donating - we could do the same thing - make the ad and then ask for donations to put it on the air: http://www.optruth.org/main.cfm?actionId=globalShowStaticContent&screenKey=mediaCampaign&lnav=2scroll down

With Bush's approval rating at an all-time low, more people are looking for real answers. DU is such a great community, such a great resource. And, hell, AAR gets all that free press from the likes of Bill O'Reilly railing about "that liberal radio," I'm sure it's one of the first places people looking for answers turn.

Yes... well, Utah is gorgeous and fairly inexpensive - we moved to where my parents were (my mom was here because of a job) since we didn't know where we'd find jobs. My husband got a job here within the first 2 weeks so here we are! Fortunately we have a nice progressive caucus here!
