Bush Military Photo-Ops: Mission Accomplished & Fake Turkey --->>>
Edited on Tue Jun-28-05 04:02 PM by Stephanie

Yahoo has helpfully posted these photos today to put tonight's speech in context. The Chimp's exploitation of troops as photo-op-backdrop fails more often than not.

President Bush gives a 'thumbs-up' sign after declaring the end of major combat in Iraq as he speaks aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln off the California coast in this May 1, 2003 file photo. Bush delivers a prime-time address on Iraq and the broader war on terror at Fort Bragg, N.C., late Tuesday, June 28, 2005, again surrounded by U.S. troops. (AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite, File)

will only make the majority of Americans resent this idiot even more and his pole numbers will continue to tumble.

2. I think it was a real turkey
but was used for decoration purposes. The military does stuff like that.

Next day they make it into soup.

3. whatever - it was known as the 'fake turkey' incident
because he took the centerpiece off the table and posed with it as if he was serving the troops - fake, fake, fake

7. From Mary Matalin
White House officials do not deny that they craft elaborate events to showcase Bush, but they maintain that these events are designed to accurately dramatize his policies and to convey qualities about him that are real.

"This was effective, because it captured something about the president that people know is true, that he really cares about the soldiers and gets emotional when he sees them," Mary Matalin, a former administration official, said about the trip to Baghdad. "You have to figure out how to capture the Bush we know, even if it doesn't come through in a speech situation or a press conference. He regularly rejects anything that is not him."

4. Wasn't there another shot where they photoshopped a whole bunch
of soldiers in back of him that were not really there?
Dim-son was up on a podium addressing soldiers, and they duped the same group over and over to make it look like there were many more than there actually were.

6. How about a photo-op at a fallen soldier's
grave site? That would even impress me. It's all abstract to him and his fellow chicken hawks.
