I didn't 'use' Ed to bash springer. I bashed Ed as I have listened to his show quite a bit here in SF and he doesn't do much for me. I read all these other posts, and maybe he is great to get through to all the truck drivers out there, but to me, he sounds like another pompous bloviating ass whom I will not even type his name!

and then I threw that thing in about jerry springer as I really think he is a joke. I have listened to his show quite a bit as well and while I tried to listen with an open mind, I really do not see why he gets valuable air time that could go to someone better!

I think it is good he is on our side and is of a different style and thought. If every left wing talk show host was the same, it could just plateau out. IMHO.

I see this differently. I don't listen to Schultz, but his audience is never meant to be DUers. He talks to truck drivers on the road, barbershops, diners -- all those usual Rush Limbaugh places in all those red states, but Schultz is getting a very different message out over the airwaves. Don't sell him short. We need him, we need those voters. We don't have to agree on every point, but please let the man talk.

Dean only spoke the truth. And Ed hammered him for it. Not just for a day or so but for a couple weeks. There aren't enough Dems out there standing up for us and we need to stand by the ones that aren't afraid of Bush. I'm not saying Dean is perfect but Ed was bashing him for saying what he said(you know the "Repubs are a white Christian party").I believe Ed called it stooping to their level. They are so low there is no stooping to their level. And in the interview I heard with Lieberman, he said that Social Security needs to be fixed and at least Bush was making the attempt. And Ed just let it go! Why? I actually used to listen to Ed alot till I heard that interview. If times were different I probably wouldn't have minded as much but we are in deep shit here and I believe we need fighters not compromisers... You and I can have a decent debate, disagree with each other and still respect each other and each others opinion, why the hell couldn't Ed do that with Lieberman?

he's not really my cup of tea either but he targets a particular audience that some of the other talk-show hosts don't reach, either literally or rhetorically.

He's gruff sounding and some people like that 'cause he sounds like Limbaugh, but with a different message. He appeals to the more middle-of-the-road listeners and does battle with more right-wingers than any of the others.

Air America is trying to reach a broad audience and you can't do that without a cross section of ideas and opinions.

i think Steph has the best show for the "mainstream" -- she's funny, easy going and informative. unlike Franken, her show is FAST-paced. it's the perfect show for the uninitiated.
