U.S. military copter crashes in Afghanistan KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — A U.S. CH-47 Chinook transport helicopter, which a military official said may have been carrying 15 to 20 people, crashed Tuesday while ferrying reinforcements to fight insurgents in a mountainous region in eastern Afghanistan. The Taliban claimed to have shot down the aircraft.

...and still are...quote from my brother (2nd of the 509th 101 airborne 69-70, I believe)"Guy's would rather stay on the perimeter under fire than come to the LZ and guide one in." They were that prone to "fall down" because of ground fire....
