What the hell is wrong with the media???
Why aren't they fawning and bubbling about what a "homerun" Bush made tonight like they usually do?

I'm totally serious.

With the exception of Chris Matthews, the majority of threads tonight seem to indicate the media talking heads aren't merely reading their lines off of a White House talking points memo as usual.

Very strange.

And the dem's are on tonight too with their responses. I'm actually proud of them colllectively for the first time in a while. Pelosi did great on NBC and Clark was brilliant on FOX.

1. I submit that it's actually dawning on these Stern Daddy Lovers that

their Daddy hero (and by extension a now-less-precious part of their own selves) has fucked up in the worst way possible.

So they're muttering, not quite under their breath.

15. Maybe they started to remember that they have children
and families who have to grow up and live in this country too.

The war in Iraq has done nothing to make us safer, it's made it more dangerous to be an American.

The administration's undiplomatic and arrogant attitude towards Europe and the rest of the world has caused tension between our countries.

The administration's reckless fiscal policy has already or will someday have a negative impact every single American with the sole exception of the upper classes.

The administration's utter disregard for protecting our environment has already or will someday negatively impact every single American regardless of class.

The bottom line is, if you help support this administration, you're not taking into consideration the best interests of your children and family.

To this point, the media has definitely helped support this administration. I hope they've finally come to their senses.

2. Hume was stumbling and not snearing at Clark

Usually, Hume is cocky.
Not tonight, he was very nice to Clark.

He almost looked like he was guilty for a second, just a second.

3. I don't think they're used to hearing "outsider" information.
You know, information that doesn't come straight from their White House press releases.

I was also wondering if Hume was being more restrained with Clark being that Clark is now a colleague. He still interrupted him plenty, but not as much as the Fox boys usually interrupt their non-republican guests.

5. I have a theory about Faux hiring Clark. I think they are trying to
get more moderate viewers due to their death spiral viewer numbers. Thus, they hired Wes and promised to be less obnoxious to him than most "liberals" they have on.

18. Something occurred to me tonight while watching Clark on Fox.
Clark is using Fox's airwaves to spread the truth! And he's speaking to people who are ordinarily brain-washed with pro-Bush propaganda -- and Fox is paying him to do it!! It's brilliant.

But besides that, if the truth finally reaches people thanks to Clark's efforts, then he's done a valuable service for us and for all Americans.

From that perspective I think what he's doing is incredibly patriotic.

But don't worry; they'll probably forget it by tomorrow.

6. Bush's bad poll numbers, plus it's not near an election,
so they can't be accused of critizing him to influence an election.

7. They aren't blind, they see the polls
for them it's all about the numbers. They will swing whatever way the polls tell them to.

22. Kinda like the debates. Kerry won so decisively the media couldn't spin it
and today, Bush was SO full of shit that it was hard for the media to stick to the scripts that Rove wrote for them.
