6. Thanks Hissyspit
It really makes me feel much better when I see real evidence that there are still some sane people out there. Otherwise, my head would literally explode.

10. Raleigh News Channel 9 showed the Protest...the signs and candles
being lit. Gave it fair coverage with photos. News Channel 14 didn't mention it after the speech in their 11:00 coverage but they covered it earlier in the day.

The coverage seemed very downbeat. Channel 14 mentioned the speech and then moved on to Base Closing problems here in NC and interviewed folks who have businesses near Pope AFB who say it will close down businesses in the area.

It seemed like the media was very downbeat about the speech. No one was pumping it and they didn't show sound but showed him and the troops behind the barracade looking very somber. I thought the distance between Bush and the barracade was interesting. He must have been afraid someone would jump it before the SS could catch them and that's why there was all that space there.

Thanks for all the photo's!

15. thanks from a fellow tarheel. If that is you in the black holding the
"demand truth" sign then may I say with due repspect that you are very attractive even thought he pic is fuzzy. I am too married (and in love w/ my wife) to be flirting. I am really just encouraging an attractive women with progressive democratic ideals to pursue a political office in NC. God knows we need all the candidates we can muster. Which county are you from?

16. I'm behind the camera. And I'm a guy. I thought that woman was cute, too.
Hissyspit was my cat and she WAS female. She disappeared and my username is in honor of her. Sorry to disappoint. :P

I'm in Hoke.

thanks for sharing the pics but mostly for being there and protesting.

Get that honey holding the sign to run for office. Sad but in our shallow society telegenic looks are advantagious. But only if she is a real progressive.

18. No problem.
Not uncommon. Hissyspit was years ago. I'm more upset about Weenie who was hit by a car a couple of months ago. She was the softest cat you ever felt; I'm talking softened butter. I didn't even realize she would wander as far as down to the road, as I had never seen her do it. I plant a crepe myrtle over her grave.

Thought that was better than changing my username to Weenie. Would rather throw a spitting hissyfit about the right-wing bizarro world we have been forced to live in, than to be a Weenie.

20. The Market House is actually the traditional center of town.
Miles from Ft. Bragg, but symbolically connected to it. There was a good amount of traffic going around it - people honking - but it is not a main throughfare, despite all roads leading to it. Apparently slaves may have been sold there in the 18th/19th centuries, among its other purposes.

24. Alien Lizards don't have Circadian rhythms!
Edited on Wed Jun-29-05 11:03 PM by Hissyspit
adj 1: relating to or dealing with norms; "normative discipline"; "normative samples" 2: giving directives or rules; "prescriptive grammar is concerned with norms of or rules for correct usage" 3: based on or prescribing a norm or standard; "normative grammar" 4: dealing with or based on norms; "a normative judgment"

Often used in opposition to 'normal' which implies a CORRECT state as opposed to a relationship to the norm, a tendency. There is no normal Circadian rhythm for humans, but there is a tendency toward a norm for individuals'.
