6. It's hard work...
to screw it up this badly.

It takes laziness, rationalizations every time someone accuses you of being wrong, , reliance on your loyal yes-men instead of hard data, a belief that a magical God has a plan for you and will make everything turn out, an insulated isolated closed mind, a belief that someone else will clean up after you, if something goes wrong, it's never your fault and you always deserve another chance, a belief that might makes right, a belief the president knows best and the American people are not as smart as you are, a belief you never have to justify yourself because you are president, a belief that a strong president trumps congress and the judiciary, because you're the strong president, a belief in short term goals because that helps you the most and the future is more uncertain, a belief that the future is someone else's problem, unless it can help your friends, a belief you never have to say "I'm sorry" because you're never wrong.

22. Guess you aren't impressed with
the fact the US military has killed upwards of tens of thousands of Iraqis because of the lies perpetrated by Bushco (WMDs, danger of being nuked, and all that bull). The UN was doing it's job in containing Saddam. Your hero has no concept of political diplomacy and sure as hell knows nothing about war strategy. Your hero wanted a war and he got it and we are paying a very high price for it.Iraqis are still being pulled out of their homes at night, the US military created plenty of graves, Women are still wearing Burkus in Afghanistan, Libya didn't turn in it's WMDs because they don't have any, Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Are you dense or something?

23. The brainwashing goes deep with this one...
I guess I upset their beautiful mind with a dose of reality.

IRAQ HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11.

Schoolgirls in Afghanistan are being terrorized, the Taliban is still running rampant, the country is in control of warlords, it's a drug traffickers paradise coupled with widespread murder, rape and child abductions. GET INFORMED.

BUSH DOESN'T CARE ABOUT BIN LADEN.

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority." GWB (3/13/02)

"I am truly not that concerned about him." responding to a question about bin Laden's whereabouts GWB (3/13/02)

25. Dangerous assumption, that.
You said: "I'm happy we're fighting them over there and not here. "

The problem is, we've stirred up a hornet's nest. Our borders are most certainly not secure. Do you really think the hornets won't come to call? Do you really believe we haven't stirred up enough hate to last about 3 generations?

We may well wind up fighting terrorism here, on our home soil, precisely because of this ill-conceived war.

Are we ready for it? I think not. Not even a little.

30. Excuse me, but
the war is still illegal, and Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11. You just can't go invade a country because you suddenly decide to not like a dictator Donald Rumsfeld shook hands with some years ago.

What you should have done after 9/11? It would have been a good start to professionally examine the rubble of the World Trade Center instead of shipping it to China in a hurry. And investigating how Osama and his 18 carpet knifes of death pulled off the controlled collapse of WTC-7 certainly wouldn't have been a waste of time too.

Take a deep breath and realize what you see there. So far the world pretends this just didn't happen. If this would happen in your neighborhood, would you believe an official assumption (!) it must have been fuel tanks exploding in the basement? But funnily they explode so neatly you could balance on the rooftop until the roof hits the ground.

It's just too blatant to be believable that Osama must have had allies in high places, knowingly or unknowingly, isn't it?

Instead you went to war with a country unrelated to 9/11 and scorched it with your brand of "democraty". They surely must be thankful for your gift.

My obligation as an American is to look squarely in the face what has been done in MY name. I didn't approve it, I didn't want it. It happened anyway.
Those pics are heartbreaking.
In my math class on Monday, I was telling everyone of looking at some photos and how sick they made me feel. I didn't mention my opinion of the poisonous shrub, just that I felt it my duty to witness the horrors of this war.I've been looking at pics trying to find before & afters of Iraq city streets, which I asked about in another thread. One man who sits next to me said "Well are you doing that for 9/11?" I replied no, there were plenty of pictures out there of 9/11, except the first plane impact. I went on to add that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, blah blah. I avoided an argument with him by staying very general and not pursuing the discussion. I wanted to take it further, but I know I'm amongst the RW here, and one of my classmates has 4 family members in Iraq. I don't mind rocking the boat most of the time, but I prefer to pick my chances and it just wasn't a good time to push it. But it left me a bit bummed because there are still so many people who just don't get it, especially here in rural-land.
Thanks for posting these. I'm recommending and bookmarking this page.

35. Seems like half of the Iraqis killed are children
Look at the list of civilian casualties for this month then look at the police and guardsman losses.http://icasualties.org/oif/Iraqi.aspx

Whether it is the US military or foreign terrorists killing civilians, we are responsible.

We brought the global war on terrah to Iraq. Why does George feel its appropriate to fight all the American haters in Iraq? Those people have suffered enough. Maybe George needs to move his war to a new venue. Which country would like to host George's war?

44. There's a lot of almighty oil in there, that's why.
Edited on Wed Jun-29-05 03:31 PM by Amonester
All other rationale is just another handy diversion, and nothing else. The criminals who hijacked the government of the most powerful military machine this planet ever saw (well, as far as we know) in mankind's history wanted the billions of barrels of oil in Iraq, and the endless war contracts to benefit them and their friends, along with a limited base of war profiteering shareholders.

That's all, and everything else is irrelevant to them: the troops, the "collateral damages" (hate these words), the national debt, anything they planned to destroy and have been destroying for four and a half years now.

It is in their "hidden" agenda (PNAC), and they've been implementing it since they stole the republic in 2000.

I wish the oligarchy of the little pampered King George will not move his war to a new venue. If he/they does/do, I'd bet there's a big chance there will be more than a few barrels of oil in its underground.

It's well past time the taxpayers start waking up, and wake up for good, IMHO, and I'm not the only one thinking this way, ain't I?

47. Before our invasion of that defenseless country, Sen. Byrd warned that
over 50% of Iraq's residents were children under the age of 15. Excerpt from:
http://www.commondreams.org/views03/0212-07.htm

One can understand the anger and shock of any President after the savage attacks of September 11. One can appreciate the frustration of having only a shadow to chase and an amorphous, fleeting enemy on which it is nearly impossible to exact retribution.

But to turn one's frustration and anger into the kind of extremely destabilizing and dangerous foreign policy debacle that the world is currently witnessing is inexcusable from any Administration charged with the awesome power and responsibility of guiding the destiny of the greatest superpower on the planet. Frankly many of the pronouncements made by this Administration are outrageous. There is no other word.

Yet this chamber is hauntingly silent. On what is possibly the eve of horrific infliction of death and destruction on the population of the nation of Iraq -- a population, I might add, of which over 50% is under age 15 -- this chamber is silent. On what is possibly only days before we send thousands of our own citizens to face unimagined horrors of chemical and biological warfare -- this chamber is silent. On the eve of what could possibly be a vicious terrorist attack in retaliation for our attack on Iraq, it is business as usual in the United States Senate.

Disconnected, self-absorbed, numb -- from a thread the other day, what was it -- 'The best argument against a Supreme Being is the suffering of little children'. The power of the Not-Caring, Not-Feeling is enormous, but they also generally don't clearly see the end coming for them -- they sense it, from behind the walls, and get spiritual guilt -- for which there is no expiation. The Numb. They curse us.

May they all suddenly feel.
