Novak walks but Judith Miller gets sentenced over the Plame outing? |
|
Heard on Randi today. Randi said she's no fan of Miller's but Miller did not publish the story Novak did. And not a peep from the corporate owned media--not that I expected one.
This proves once again that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

3. Women make the best examples.... |

..don't they? Look what they did to Martha Stewart. But Ken Lay is still free, isn't he? Helps to have a penis in today's world. Not to say Miller isn't guilty but Novacula is the ring leader.

but jailed and shackled for ages. I guess she was the precursor to Abu Ghraib.

It's pretty common knowledge that the CIA has recruited journalists since their inception. I first heard about it in the seventies in the New York Times, back when that paper had credibility. There was a report within the last week stating the same, I don't remember the details, but i read it here (DU). It's long been rumored that novak is on the government payroll. I'm sure if you look into it you will find plenty.

6. It's all about the 5th Amendment |
|
Miller believed that she had done nothing wrong, hence all the legal wrangling over her "privledges" as a REPORTER.
NOVAK is guilty as hell, and he and everyone else KNOWS it, so he invoked the 5th and 'Lawyered-up' right from the start.
NOVAK isn't being ignored; he's just in LIMBO while the investigators peel this onion from a different angle.

9. I'll say this nice and slow... |
|
The prosecutor's objective is to find out who leaked the name of an active covert CIA agent investigating WMD proliferation.
The journalists in question here are being asked to testify in front of a grand jury. A GRAND JURY of ordinary people with the aim of either indicting someone or denying an indictment due to lack of credible evidence. This isn't a Bush operation. This isn't an 'evil Bush family empire' or whatever, operation. It's an investigation into a serious crime.
Until now, Judith Miller has "walked" too. If Novak was going to be a target of something, that couldn't have happened unless Miller's evidence was taken into account. So if Miller simply decided to sit on what she knew for two years, the disposal of whatever Novak has coming his way, also sat for two years, until JUST NOW.
Now WHY did this prosecutor go after Miller first? I don't know. Novak can't be prosecuted simply for printing a story in America. The problem is the obstruction of justice by refusing to testify before - and I'll say it again, nice and slow, because this part gets ignored - a GRAND JURY of ordinary people sworn not to reveal the results of that testimony, whose job is not to ascertain guilt or innocence or send people to prison, but to decide if there's a prosecutable case. Obstructing that legitimate effort is wrong and is not legal.
Therefore, seeing people go off the reservation in presenting this as an executive branch conspiracy to attack the press is quite distasteful .
