Bush calling himself "your Commander in Chief"
Have any other presidents referred to themselves in the third person as "your Commander in Chief" in a big national speech? It reminds me of Bush's "I'm a war president" comment on MTP a while back. Who refers to themselves that way? It's one thing for someone else to say it, but what kind of person says it themselves?

1. In answer to your question about what sort of person...
... self-refers as "commander-in-chief," the answer is simple: an asshole like Bush.

Cheers.

11. As he couldn't even be found in the NG
Most of the time he was in Alabama working on some GOP campaign. He had no intention of going to Vietnam. No way.

12. Bush has always had a probably differentiating between mine & your...
It's that problem with adjectival pronouns that got us into Iraq... "covetting they neighbours' goods"...

Mine, thine.... mine, yours... it's all the same to a thief.

13. Let me preface this by saying that I am in no way
denigrating hard working, underpaid restaurant food servers, but the only place I have heard language like that is in a typical chain restaurant where the servers are instructed to introduce themselves by saying, "Hi. My name is _____. I'll be your server today. Can I start you off with some buffalo wings? Have you looked at our drink menu?"

Chimp sounds like he's got the spiel down. "Hi my name is George. I'll be your Commander in Chief today. Can I interest you in a trip to Iraq courtesy of the US army? Would you like to hear about our enlistment specials?"

20. He is NOT my commander-in-chief, nor is he yours
unless you serve in the military.

I don't really think that Bonehead or his faithful propagandist Scottty have ever understood this. McClellan is forever referring to Bush as the commander-in-chief.

Bush serves in the role of commander-in-chief to the military only, which is a frightening thought in its own right. Sorry, idiot-boy, you don't get to issue orders to me.
