Could 1,300,000 Troops Control The USA
Were we to be successfully invaded and occupied by a foreign army how many troops would it take to hold the peace here? We have about 10x the number of people as Iraq (260 Million compared to about 26.1 Million) so maybe 10x the number of troops should suffice?

Would there be any 'insurgency' or would we lie down like sheep?

What would we do for weapons, or do we already have enough out there on the streets and gun cabinets of NRA members?

Keep in mind, no electricity, natural gas, transportation system, or uncompromised communications system.

1. Scary thought, but....
I think we'd just get out the uzis and machine guns and take out every last fucker we could who was in our land. Then high-tail it to Canada and open up shop.

2. We are pretty well armed
I never go anywhere without my modified anthrax. For Duck Hunting.

And we have greater mobility due to the proponderence of cars everywhere. We'd be hard to control.

4. Look At The Road To The Bagdad Airport
Our cars wouldn't be going anywhere because there would be no fuel at all for civilian transportation.

5. That would just make us angrier
I mean it's one thing to invade our country and take over, but to prevent us from driving around listening to Led Zepplien? Now it's personal!

3. No way, lets say the Chinese invaded tomorrow
because they hate our 'ideology' and to save us. We would fight back because we don't want to loose OUR way of life even if they don't agree with it.

Of course the poor guy who looses his wife and kids isn't fighting because he was invaded and wants revenge he fights because he is a 'terrorist' who has always wanted the Chinese to be destoryed right?

And 1.3 million wouldn't be nearly enough.

6. Of course not
Hell, all the police forces in the US can only keep order because we want them to. If we didn't, they couldn't.

7. It's all about will.
How long would it take you to begin resisting a brutal, abusive occupation? Losing the internets would be a blow, but it would not stop a damn thing.

8. Can You Control A Mind?
Can you outshoot a person determined to resist occupation or authority at all costs? Can you outshoot someone who smiles at you when you drive past and shoots at you as you're back is turned?

History is litered with military invasions that turned into long, draining occupations...that in the end took a bigger toll on the occupier than the occupied. This country is like an elephant stomping ants in Iraq...proving all those high tech weapons and army-of-one crap means nothing when you are fighting against a person who is defending their homes, property and life.

Your scenario here is impossible to determine as our nation is not as homogeneous as you think. I've long played the game with Repugnicans about whatif the Chinese had invaded this country...would you resist, how would you resist? While the initial response is playing Rambo/patriot...after we really talk it out and priorities are put in place, the decisions aren't that clear. Do you take up arms and face a certain death or do whatever it takes to keep you and your family safe...even if that means colaborating with the enemy.

Hopefully we'll never know in this country. I have greater faith in the sanity of the slowly awakening American common sense.

9. NO WAY!!
i'm scared of those born again gun nuts killing me, more than any foreign invasion. PS China already won the war against the USA_without firing a shot. They own our debt and our collective asses
