Man in the Street Reaction: How have people where you are reacted |
|
to the Great Speech?
Of course I'm especially interested in the wingnut or shrub voter reaction.
I live in shrub love central, but had relatively little exposure to people at work this morning, and heard no mention of the Great Speech.

So far the reaction has been a bit of shock that he couldn't come up with anything new to say, but any contemplation of it was quickly blown away by the passage of same sex marriage.

2. My neighbor came over and watched with me. He is a repug. |
|
After we talked. The thing that disturbed him the most was that nobody applauded. He thinks Bush has lost military support. He had not heard about the downing street minutes, I gave him an earful. When he left he said he needed to digest everything. He also did not feel that the emotion at the end of the speech was comfortable for Bush.

drunken hangover and realizing there's a dead baby under the wheel of your car?
Would it be something like that?
I would think and hope that a lot of shrub voters are feeling something like this around now, it would suggest there's still a shred of hope for our national soul.
The fact that your neighbor who doesn't agree with much of your politics would watch it at your house suggests that you have civil interaction and that perhaps he's more open minded than many shrub supporters we know.
