Stripes letter likening the Bush administration to Hitler
Wrong response to speech

I am aghast at the emotionality of the writer of the June 22 letter “Speech was anti-American” about the speech by Dr. Detlef Junker at the University of Maryland University College graduation speech. Had I been there, I would also have preferred that Junker had read his audience better and chosen a different subject. However, it has happened and what he said is his belief as well as the belief of tens of millions of real Americans who voted against the present administration in the past two elections.

What frightens me more is that we have the mid-level leadership spewing hate with such arrogant statements as on Sept. 11, 2001, “the slime of humanity caused the deaths of 3,000 Americans” (not all were American, some were European and even Muslim visitors). The writer lists empathy, good opinions, lecturing, approval and support as things “we” do not need. He also declares that the present president does not care if he is liked and “neither do we.” Does this field-grade officer have a frog in his pocket? He certainly does not speak for me nor the millions of true Americans with a different opinion.

More than 60 years ago, another world leader and his officers tried to change the complexion of the world. His officers, to include my father, also believed every lie he spread. In those years, the “slime of humanity” wore a yellow star on his/her sleeve; today, they carry the Quran. The venom this writer spews through the media shows me how far our professional military has come. It’s frightening.

Here is Dr. Junker`s speech, which is causing so much controversy with University of Maryland (Heidelberg, V Corp) students. It is well worth a read.

Or busy, or ignorant or whatever the excuse to not be vigilant. It is the nature of the criminal, like cancer to always look for an opportunity to metastasize.
We'll put them down this time and they will reappear in another generation, guaranteed. But maybe, just maybe, this time we can put them down without them killing millions first.
We'll see.

Very enlightening and every American should read Dr. Junker's speech and the letters to the editor.
