College Republican: "We actually do shit."
Edited on Wed Jun-29-05 04:11 PM by Bluebear
I agree with young Mr. Bray. They do shit.

===

....By the time I encountered Cory Bray, a towering senior from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business, the beer was flowing freely. "The people opposed to the war aren't putting their asses on the line," Bray boomed from beside the bar. Then why isn't he putting his ass on the line? "I'm not putting my ass on the line because I had the opportunity to go to the number-one business school in the country," he declared, his voice rising in defensive anger, "and I wasn't going to pass that up."

And besides, being a College Republican is so much more fun than counterinsurgency warfare. Bray recounted the pride he and his buddies had felt walking through the center of campus last fall waving a giant American flag, wearing cowboy boots and hats with the letters B-U-S-H painted on their bare chests. "We're the big guys," he said. "We're the ones who stand up for what we believe in. The College Democrats just sit around talking about how much they hate Bush. We actually do shit."

http://www.thenation.com/doc.mhtml?i=20050711&s=blumenthal

=====
But it's Cory Bray who keeps hitting the jukebox.

A big Texan, he's wearing a weathered Houston Astros baseball cap and a Bush/Cheney T-shirt. He has seven--one for each day of the week. Bray chugs his beers and brags of the large amounts of meat he can eat.

"I've tried to play 'Sweet Home Alabama,' like, three times in a row," he says, returning from the jukebox. "But the bartender keeps killing it."

"Good," one in the group shoots back over laughter.

"Awesome," answers Bray, who then sings along with the music.

Edited on Wed Jun-29-05 05:10 PM by FreedomAngel82
Typical. And he says the democrats should go and fight? Why not get his ass over there? If he can run around with a letter from Bush's name on his chest and drink beer and eat meat surely he's healthy and doesn't have much to do. And how does he know the college democrats aren't doing shit? For all he knows they're just better at what they're doing and doing something that actually means something. I'm surprised he's wearing a Houston shirt. Isn't Houston more of a liberal city? Oh and if he really stud for what he believed in he'd be over in Iraq at this moment instead of that interview. He obviously doesn't believe in the cause enough.

83. It's total bull-"SHIT" Like walking away from an NFL contract, if you
believe in something (regardless of how deluded it is) then you commit to it...

Otherwise you're just a pussy looking for excuses, beating your chest and acting like an idiot.

Bring it on buddy, because you're full of "SHIT". I'm sure my sister could kick your ass. Most of the Dem's at your college are probably attempting to recover for their fits of laughter over what a moron you are.

90. My aunt and uncle live in Houston...
They don't wear cowboyhats, and they consider themselves more "cultured", but i've noticed that most of them are just as conservative as the rest of Texas. I think that there's a greater bend towards the "rich republican" than the "poor and ignorant republican" though.

101. Yep...
and to think my cousin gave up the opportunity to build a house on his land and begin a family with his high school sweetheart to go get killed in Iraq.

What I want to know is what exactly to they think they're are doing at home that justifies not signing up to join the fight they believe in? What a bunch of spoiled brat assholes.

It is much more liberal than the rest of Texas. El Paso and San Antonio are pretty liberal too (high % Latinos). The rest of the state however is pretty conservative, ranging from traditional Repug to scary Theocrats to KKK redoubts.

I've got a shitload of those fuckers. You get them, basically, for being in the right unit at the right time.

The one on the right is is a Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.

He can hit the broad side of a barn.

Of course the wings are for being a pilot.

As we all know, he barely earned that puppy.

The problem is that you have to be IN THE UNIT during the time period for which the award is made. And you have to be finished with training.

28. Here is my letter to this fine example of shit
Dear Sir,

I do not know if you have noticed that recruitment numbers are tanking. I don't know if you have also noticed that yesterday the President asked you, yes YOU, to do your duty and ahem enlist.

You see I resent your excuses. I have a college degree and that did not prevent me from serving... and my husband served twenty years in the US Navy and continues to serve after leaving the service. I see you have no problem supporting this war, but not actually fighting this war. Now I am willing to give you the following links (including to DD 4/3, otherwise known as the enlistment papers). I personally recommend you volunteer for 11B (Infantry) or 98 A (Medic), or 98 B (If you should choose the Navy, the Marines NEED corpsmen) Now if you really want to be a man you can volunteer your ass to serve with the Green Berets, the Rangers or the SEALS. This hurrah from the comfort of your sofa while others serve is quite disgusting, but we knew we could not expect anything else from a young Chickenhawk, who someday will slime people like my husband who SERVED while you SIPPED your lattes

Here is the info, now do your damn duty and be a man... some of us have already been there done that...

46. I would deeply appreciate it...
...if you French-loving, French fry swilling liberals would cut us a break. Let me tell you something, old chum, we know the horrors of war second and third-hand. Our caddies would tell us that their fathers fought in Operation Desert Storm and have to work at the country club for tips and hot dogs in order to get by when their fathers died and their death benefits were cut. So don't tell us that we're sheltered, you damned liberals.

You know, when we have a convention, you people send in spies to "expose" our "cowardice" and spread those little peeing yellow elephants. Well, green footballs to you! There are plenty of Republicans who have fought in wars. Like John McCain, yeah! And...and... John McCain! THERE's a real American hero.

What a tool. I don't get the concept of a 21 year old conservative. What could they possibly be so angry about and how is it that they are so sure they have the answers to the world?

How does one lose one's idealism at such a young age, if they're privileged enough to attend a prestigious university? It's not like they got left behind the rest of society and have a clear source of resentment.

You've got to be taught from year to year
It's got to be drummed in your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught

You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made
And people whose skin is a different shade
You've got to be carefully taught

You've got to be taught before it's too late
Before you are six or seven or eight
To hate all the people your relatives hate

"I know that I'm going to be better staying here and working to convince people why we're there ," Hauser explained, pausing in thought. "I'm a fighter, but with words."

You're not a fighter, Hauser, you asshole. What you are is a coward. You'll let others go off and die for your ideas, while you "fight with words."

I could call you all sorts of names like chicken and coward and pussy, but they're not bad enough. For you, I reserve the worst insult there is:

You are a Hauser, is what you are. There's nothing more despicable.

If he's so for the war, he should go out and fight it?

So he's not putting his ass out on the line so he can become a corporate tool who will probably bribe the Republicans to get what he wants. Dumbass.

He wants to be a web designer, yet his own site doesn't come up..

www.corybray.com

...brings up:

You are not authorized to view this page
You might not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials you supplied.

What's up with this?

Also, accessing other sites he's mentioned on results in strange things...

If he reads his server logs. (But I doubt he's smart enough to find em.)

Just insert your desired webpage, like this.

www.corybray.com/YouAreAChickenshit and refresh a few times to make sure he gets the message. :)

107. Thank you!
My email:

I just read about you in the Nation.

http://www.thenation.com/doc.mhtml?i=20050711&s=blumenthal

That was awesome. I mean, sure, some people are actually going over there and fighting and dying for the war you wholeheartedly support, but damn! Walking around with your shirts off and "Bush" painted on your chests? That's patriotism!

Sure, some Kerry-supporters (you know, the guy who postponed attending an Ivy League school to go fight in Vietnam) might call you a chickenhawk, a pussy, a sissy, etc. but I'm behind you all the way! Us members of the 101st Chairborne Division have to stick together. After all, a Republican's job is to make war, not actually fight it. We're way to rich and priviledged to hang out with a bunch of proles all day actually making sacrifices for the wars we start. At least, that's what I was telling my butler the other day. Anyway, it's poor people's jobs to fight wars, not business majors like yourself.

Anyway, I'm really happy for you that your mommy and daddy were able to pay your way through college so you didn't have to go fight in Iraq. Don't worry about being called a shit-talking loser, though; after all, our very own Dear Leader George Dubya didn't have to fight in any wars (probably because, like you, his family had all that hard-earned money to keep him out battle), and look how far he got! He managed to smear a veteran throughout the entire 2004 campaign (despite the fact that he went AWOL when in the Air National Guard, and his vice-president had "other priorities" that kept him from serving in Vietnam), and the liberal media didn't even bat an eye! If it worked for him, it can work for you!

Good luck! I hope the trust fund doesn't run out too soon!

143. It'll be interesting...
...to set up a thread containing our missives and the angry emails we get back from him. Somehow, I don't think he'll be in the mood to write that many once the flood overwhelms him. But he's wrecked his political career, if he ever had aspirations to having one. Unlike in the 60's and 70's, when fellow draft dodgers and slackers like Tom DeLay and Rush Limbaugh were just getting started, there was no internet. Now, there is. And when this clown Bray goes to run for public office, we'll all remember his name and will dust off the archives.

His surname *is* apt, is it not? Suppose we send his email address to Neal Horsley?

I know one that was bragging to some fellow out-of-workers/underemployed-alumni how he went hunting in Texas with General Bodkin (I think that was his name), the General who gave the "my god is greater than their god" comment. All the while I have to live from paycheck-to-paycheck in underemployment just to pay for health insurance.

100. Its quite simple...
...they are delusional. But not only that, but they are at that age where the individual, or the mainstream individual, cries out for some form of defining characteristic, one that is usually found not by gaining an independent identity, but by gleaning off of a group identity that one can easily be a part of. It is much easier affiliate oneself with the postulates of an already formed manifesto than create a manifesto oneself.

The steps of the herd. Joining greek society is simply not enough, one must then choose a religious/political ideology as well. The fact of the matter is that we are living in a progressive world. The 'march of freedom' is nothing compared to the sociological changes that come with the march of Progressive Thought. These individuals will have to contend with that. Contend with a dying ideology that they have put so much effort in. And if not them, then surely their children.

Politics

New America
By: Cory Bray

The other day I was thinking about the geography of our country. Particularly, I was thinking about the different types of people who live in different areas. I recall the t-shirt that came out after the 2000 presidential election that color coded the counties based on which candidate won the majority of the vote. It appeared to me that almost all of the country was red! It really didn’t make sense to me that an overwhelming majority of the counties in the country voted for Bush, yet Gore actually won the popular vote. The next thing that I noticed was that the most populated blue counties were clumped together on our coasts. I began to think how much greater America would be if we got rid of the northeast part of the country east of the Appalachians and north of Virginia, as well as the state of California?

Do you think I’m crazy? Think again. Many will argue that a move like this will ruin our country since most of our wealth is based in New York, and most of our political power in DC. I don’t believe this is the case. If it weren’t for the millions of people who live in the area that will be preserved under my plan, the wealth on the east coast will not exist. How could these companies survive if they had no one to sell their goods to? I am not suggesting this move to undermine corporate America, but on the contrary. I suggest we move the corporate headquarters throughout New America and let them strive in states not controlled by the liberals. Companies will actually be able to keep the majority of their profits without paying taxes at ridiculous rates. As for the political power, we have many great leaders living between the borders of what will be New America. If these leaders were relieved of all the stress brought on by the intense liberal propaganda of the northeast and California, they will be able to accomplish the goals of the people instead of trying to fend off attacks from the far left.

In New American people’s focus will be on how to enjoy their lives instead of how to get by in their lives because of constant pressures by the government. I envision a 20% upper income tax bracket so people can keep what they earn instead of giving it to the government to waste. We will also enjoy our lives more with the numbers of protests in our country will decrease dramatically. When we turn on the television we can see Barbara Streisand and Alec Baldwin standing in a FOREIGN country telling us why we don’t deserve to take home more of our income. We will also enjoy a lower crime rate because criminals will now get their due punishment instead of undue sympathy. Probation will be replaced with work camps in the mountains of Wyoming, because unlike color TV’s and weights in their cell, this will teach criminals that crime doesn’t pay.

Our new country will be a country of equality, not conditional equality. It will be accepted to either buy our meat at the stores, or kill it ourselves, as long as it is in season. We will be gain employment based solely on our abilities and our character. There will be no handouts in New America, panhandling will be illegal, and people who abuse welfare will be punished harshly. Anyone who kills someone will get the death penalty, and anyone who deals drugs will be sentenced to life in prison. People in what will be New America currently have to take responsibility for their own actions, if New America became a reality, they will finally get a proportional reward for their sacrifices.

New America is merely a dream, but what a great dream it is. It would be fascinating to see a land controlled by realistic people with reasonable goals. I think all of us would appreciate it when we saw a few extra bucks in our pockets, but that would not be the greatest thrill. The greatest thrill would come looking out, looking out to the two newly formed countries: Liberalia and East Liberalia. Finally they could find no where to place the blame for events that humans can’t be blamed for. They will start to protest protests, and then protest those protests. They eventually will figure out that they would rather live in New America, but then they hit a wall. They hit a 20 foot tall concrete wall with armed guards patrolling the top of it. That’s right, in New America we will allow no illegal immigrants and our country will flourish because of it. Contact us for more info

I just wanted to point out that some of the best lefties I know were conservative during college: until they grew up. So there's still hope for Cory Bray and friends, once they get over themselves.

115. Bray wasn't the only one quoted in the article
"I chatted for a while with Collin Kelley, a senior at Washington State with a vague resemblance to the studly actor Orlando Bloom. Kelley told me he's "sick and tired of people saying our troops are dying in vain" and added, "This isn't an invasion of Iraq, it's a liberation--as David Horowitz said." When I asked him why he was staying on campus rather than fighting the good fight, he rubbed his shoulder and described a nagging football injury from high school. Plus, his parents didn't want him to go. "They're old hippies," Kelley said."

Isn't it interesting how so many Republicans have injuries that prevent them from fighting their own wars? Kind of like that cyst on Rush Limbaugh's ass.

I am willing to bet this a-hole didn't give this a second thought before Chimpy used 'liberation' as a last desperate attempt to justify shocking and awing the crap of Iraq. Since when do repukes care about anyone but themselves? And they sure don't want to finance anyone else's life. Oh but I forgot , these rich little repukes are sacrificing nothing for this so called 'liberation' NOthing! No tax dollars, no service, They're not fighting/dying. They're drinking beer/attending frat parties and getting defensive when asked why (since they support the Chimp and his illegal and immoral war) they are unwilling to put their patriotism where their mouth is, and enlist. Deep in their rotten greedy little hearts, they know they are cowards and they know we know.

So...what kind of shit do you do? Pray and hope you get your tax checks next year? Kiss Repub's asses to make yourself feel better. Make a small donation to the armed forces thinking it might get used in Iraq or Afghanistan. But it will actually be used for your tax returns. "All around me sat the Republican Party's future leaders: fresh-faced, nondescript white guys in blue suits, and slender blond girls in miniskirts and snug-fitting blazers, some with halter tops underneath.

Wow. I'm in awe of how well they clarify their stand within the framing of the Republican Party's classiness! Shew... impressive. :puke:

And this...

conservative stars like House majority leader Tom DeLay; :eyes:

The Hammer is their "star!?!" Boy, you gotta feel sorry for this guy. This is the best leader they have to look up to.

antitax zealot Grover Norquist, who called Senator John McCain a "nut job" for compromising on Bush's judge picks; :eyes:

Antitax? He obviously means "anti-tax" less it's a new Repuke word of sorts but if they think McCain is a "nut job" and Delay a "star," I think they're critical-thinking needs critical care.

and black right-winger Jesse Lee Peterson, who announced that "most black people--not all, but most--can't think for themselves."

Oh... this is super-low. I mean, "most black people...?" Refer to first paragraph above. All I can think of is "huh...!?!" And "they can't think for themselves?"

How does one frame a debate with these turds, I ask?

all right..they walk around with bushit on their chests and think of rationalizations why their collective ass isn't in Iraq.

The Dems ..most of them didn't want this carnage to begin with have no reason to be any where near Iraq.

But there's a lot of Dem Soldiers who were in the reserves or military whom karl rove insulted with his scummy rhetoric.

No wonder the Soldiers weren't applauding the chimp with all the 9/11 inferences that rove had put in the speech. Soldiers know by now why they were ordered to Iraq.

173. Fascinating semantic tidbit
Option 1 - "We actually do shit" = "We do, in fact, defecate."

Option 2 - "We actually do shit" = "We do, in fact, perform work of no value or importance."

Option 3 - "We actually do shit" = "We do, in fact, nothing at all."

We're all capable of Option 1, but 2 and 3 seem a bit more, well, Republican.

192. My Letter to young Cory
Dear Cory,
I read your words in "The Nation" with interest. Interest that you feel that writing B U S H on your chest and walking around campus waving a flag means you are doing your part for your country. My husband, who was a NYC fireman when 9/11 occurred, makes you look like a blowhard fool. You are the worst sort of Bush supporter, supporting the war and your brave commander-in-chief, who sat for 7 minutes reading "My Pet Goat" and then flew all over the country trying to get away from any personal threat; you are a coward, just as Bush is. A Coward and a Chickenhawk who thinks he is too good to serve his country.

You coward.

Adigal

There are so many assholes like this out there, it just sickens me to no end.....Let him find the sights and smells of combat...he'll change his tune quickly enough.

One thing's for sure...he has no fear of losing his nuts if he did join, hasn't got any anyway....:)

There are women who are showing more bravery and dignity by serving than this Chickenhawk will ever come close to. And I'm sure he is one of the neo-cons that think women should be barefoot-pregnant-in-the-kitchen-fetchin'-breakfast types.

I can see his yellow stripe clear out here in Nebraska...:grr:

197. At least he's honest
>>>>"I'm not putting my ass on the line because I had the opportunity to go to the number-one business school in the country," he declared, his voice rising in defensive anger, "and I wasn't going to pass that up.">>>>

I know damned good and well every last College Republican would be running for the exits if there was ANY chance their asses would be in danger of being sent off to Baghdad. Reminds me of the young pieces of shit in three-piece suits I saw walking out of a Dick Cheney speech last fall, mocking several labor union people until one of the men yelled, "If you support this war so goddamned much, then take off your suits and put on a uniform." Smartasses had no response to that. Of course not. Wars are not for them to fight, but for the kids of the lower and middle classes (increasingly one and the same).

It's easy to talk the talk, yet not walk the walk. I think a lot of young Bush/GOP supporters will find that out here soon enough.

But, I disagree with Mr. Bray's assessment of him and his ilk: They DON'T do shit. People like that make me want to vomit.

:puke:

Wow! I graduated in 1988 and I don't remember as big of assholes like that being on campus....in fact, I always remember Penn as being a very liberal environment with lots of intelligent people around. Now Penn and the Wharton school have loud mouthed Texan pieces of shit walking barechested down Locust Walk with Bush on their Chests after the election and waving the flag?

Ben Franklin, founder of the University of Pennsylvania is turning in his grave....this is not what he had in mind for this institution of higher learning....

I'm sure this is going to do wonders for the Univ of Penn's recruiting....I always thought I'd want to have the Pachababies go to Mom's alma mater and be a "legacy" but I had no idea that they would be having to sit in a class room with that kind of plague....
