Hey DeLay.... Where's the "adjustment" for the rest of us?!?
House Agrees to $3,100 Pay Raise for 2006

Jun 28, 6:02 PM (ET)
WASHINGTON (AP) - The House on Tuesday agreed to a $3,100 pay raise for Congress next year - to $165,200 - after defeating an effort to roll it back.

In a 263-152 vote, the House blocked a bid by Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah, to force an up-or-down vote on the pay raise. Instead, lawmakers will automatically receive the raise - officially a cost of living adjustment - as provided for in a 1989 law that barred them from pocketing big speaking fees in exchange for an annual COLA.

Matheson was the only one of 434 House members to speak out against the 1.9 percent COLA, which will raise members' salaries in January.

"Now is not the time for members of Congress to be voting themselves a pay raise. We need to be willing to make sacrifices," he said.

(snip)
"It's not a pay raise," said House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas. "It's an adjustment so that they're not losing their purchasing power."

3. No up or down vote either, so they wouldn't have to be known to us.
Meanwhile, I lose some of my salary every year to pay for more and more benefits. I'm going backwards here!

15. Must be nice to work someplace where you can just give yourself a raise.
Remember when it was considered a public service? Not a way to line your pockets for life.

I don't see anything changing without some amazing and dynamic leader educating the real people of this country so that we can get enough momentum to start voting them OUT.

Congress is never going to impose term limits on itself.

And now all we get is military investigations of military atrocities - oh no, nothing really happened.... because we said so.

I'm feeling totally disgusted these days and almost ready to give up. But I can't. Because I know that's just what they want me to do.

Sigh........

7. What could any of you all do with an extra $3,100 a year?
According to Tom DeLay, it's nothing -- just an adjustment so that he and his congressional cronies don't lose any purchasing power.

Is it 1789 yet?

17. And I don't see 'us' voting them out until the masses are educated
about the level of fraud, corruption and cronyism.

And I don't see that happening without a real media!

Sigh..........

9. Glad the general public doesn't lose purchasing power with $2.50 a gallon
gasoline. DeLay must think we are all like the witless turkey brains who support him and his agenda.
