Another one. What is it with perverts and religion?
Edited on Wed Jun-29-05 08:00 PM by crappy diem
A St. Paul man who has worked as a pastor and a teacher was sentenced to 19 years and two months in prison Tuesday on charges that he sexually abused a daughter he adopted from Russia.

...

Before his arrest, Gilmore was a teacher at C.S. Lewis Christian School in Newberg and at St. Paul Elementary School. He also taught piano lessons.

He previously was the senior pastor at the Marcon Friends Church and an associate pastor at the Newberg Friends Church, both in the Newberg area.

...

In court Tuesday, she said she chose to forgive her husband so he could be restored to the man of God she knows him to be, Tweedt said.

....

And the wife??!! Is she insane? And reps wonder why people are turned off by religion.

1. Perversion is why they turn to religion
They are looking for a cure.
The ones who preach loudly against temptation do so because they are tempted and project that onto others.

4. Well,maybe. But
I cannot recall any of the recent ones saying they look for a cure.
The most they ever say is they are sorry for the damage. If
they even say that much.

I am thinking they are pervs and look to religion
(churches and schools) in order to get targets; just
following the example of priests.

I best sign out and cool off before I say something
about these POS

Thanks for your response. Gives me something to think
about and search the web for info.

2. More Like It's A Cover For Religion
Go check out the Franklin Credit Union story by Senator John DeCamp of Lincoln, NE. Our Chief and his thugs are pedophiles from the 80's. The majority of these people are using children for their pleasure, with nothing any one can do. They have been like this for a very long time. It's taking as long for the public to see as it was for them to realize that priests were sleeping with little boys. What a joke.:wtf:

3. If you are a creep you have to hide it. And where better to hide than
with people who are gifted with faith. That being said - there are creeps in all walks of life and they also gravitate towards 'the helping professions' where they can rely on people who are ruled by their hearts.

That being said - they also gravitate towards the Republican Party and Politics and corporations where their creepyness may be valued.

You can't say that there are more creeps in the religious. Perhaps there are just more victims amongst people who go with a feeling like faith or a big heart.

6. I believe that a lot of the ministers who are "pervs" have
gone into ministry to "atone for their sins." Example: A young boy grows up in the Catholic church (this is NOT a slam against Catholics---but, with the scandals that put a spotlight on the Catholics, just use it as way of illustration, every faith has problems like this)====he is told over and over again that homosexuality is a sin----yet, he has strong homosexual feelings---the boy learns that "the feelings" themselves aren't sin---but, it's the "acting" on those feelings that is sin. He knows that priests take vows of celibacy----he figures that if he becomes a priest, and takes the vow, then he doesn't have to "act" and at the same time finds "forgiveness" for his "sin" (their words, not mine) of being a homosexual.

Problem is, humans are sexual beings---the priest finds himself in close proximity to altar boys, etc. The temptation becomes too great. A child is abused.

This IN NO WAY justifies what the priest did--just (maybe) explains it. IMVHO, if the church (Catholic or whichever) wants to begin to end this problem---it needs to understand that homosexuality is not chosen, and those who are struggling with their sexuality need not be condemned as sinners. And, ought to also consider ending the celibacy vow for priests.

And, they ought not propogate a culture where sexuality is a taboo subject, and turn it into something dirty.

This heinous crime that you posted about the father sexually abusing his adopted daughter came from a seed that was planted in his mind, IMO, during his puberty.

I would be willing to bet that this man grew up in a "Christian" home, with very strict parents who equated morality with "thou shalt not."

It's amazing to me, a Christian, that the RW church, which preaches so much about grace, has absolutely no idea what it really is, and how to live by it.

"Beware of the Pharisees, who bind burdens on everyone else, but who won't lift a finger to bear those same burdens themselves." --Jesus Christ.
