TRANSCRIPTof Klein being humiliated by Franken and Conason
LANPHER: You're listening to the Al Franken Show. I'm Katherine Lanpher.

FRANKEN: And I'm Al Franken. In the studio with us is Joe Conason, and in Washington is Ed Klein. Ed Klein's new book is The Truth About Hillary. It's published by Sentinel from Penguin, which is my publisher, at Dutton. I'm just thrilled about that. He joins us from the Center for American Progress in Washington D.C. Thank you, Ed, for joining us.

KLEIN: Thank you for having me, Al.

FRANKEN: Okay, and now would you call this book your best work?

KLEIN: I think this is the best book I've written, yes.

FRANKEN: Oh, good. Okay, good. Now I think I found a mistake.

here's an example:
it's a way to clip a quote and distort it

Bill Schneieder, the rw political analyst at CNN did it to hagel recently

here's the original quote:
"Things aren't getting better; they're getting worse. The White House is completely disconnected from reality," he said. "It's like they're just making it up as they go along. The reality is, we're losing in Iraq."

and here's Bill's version:

neat trick, huh?

7. my favorite thing about al is when he does this
no one else can eviscerate so professionally as he can. he grabs a fact, cuts off most exits, nails the SOB to the wall, let them wiggle and writhe in pain caught in their lie, and then gracefully allows them to slink back into the shadow licking their wounds, so as not to look like a vindictive ass. and then he brilliantly does it all over again. and again.

after 2 or 3 precision guided missiles at RW shill's respectability they often leave far worse for wear and not wanting to tangle with liberals for quite a while. his major bitch slap on john stossel was priceless. others on air america were having trouble nailing him down, so al stepped up and nailed his ass so thoroughly that you notice he doesn't show his face in the general media (outside his job) nearly as much as he has been. still nursing wounds, i assume. having your lying guts on display tends to humble.

8. They left out the nuance of the very end of that skewering.
The last part actually went:

Al:....And, you know, talk to Adrian, because I really did tell him that Joe was gonna be here. Thank you! Really, honestly, thank you for coming on.

< Long mocking pause for response to emphasize the fact that Klein had already hung up the phone in a fit of pique. Then-- >

Al: You're welcome!

It was indeed a beautiful moment in radio history.
Even better was when they returned from break to the sound of Al taking a "virtual shower", with Katherine banging on the door and demanding her turn at getting the slime off.

:D
