Lionel on the radio calling this war a "barroom mentality"
He asserted that "...people like the idea of wiping out a country. Bombing them out of existence."

I understand that the administration acts like it enjoys seeing us on the left suffer their power. But to think that wingnuts actually relish the fact that people are being bombed to fight them over there is not an easy thought at bedtime.

1. Also...
I truly believe that there are racial currents at play here.
Every single born again-redneck-freeper-neocon-conservative type I have ever confronted looks at that whole region as the same. They view it as a bunch of "ragheads".
So bombing Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, or Afghanistan is all the same to these racist bastards. Hell they didn't even know where Iraq was before all this much less any idea of the history or current geopolitical landscape of that part of the world.

2. You've never been
to the Freeper site have you?

I've lost track of the number of countries they want to turn into a sheet of glass via nukes.

Doesn't have to be the ME either. France will do in a pinch.

Or anybody else, that in any way, says something they don't like.

3. I have a Freeper-Type friend who was hot to take on Syria, Iran,
France, Russia, California etc, after The Chimperor did his Top Gun routine a few years ago. He's a terrible closet racist. He says awful racist stuff to me, particularly about Mexicans, but he goes off about everybody from time to time. He is a Homeland Security investigator and works on the border. He was drunk last month and told me his solution to our border problem is not a guest worker program or anything remotely reasonable. He says we should close the border, bring down the military and open fire on anybody who comes near the U.S. line. We almost came to blows that night. Lucky it was over the phone because I was losing my cool, and that takes a lot.

People of that mentality are so narrow minded and insecure that they only know the simplest actions to every problem. Talking tough sounds good, but it's not a practical solution. Some Righties insist that Goldwater would have won Vietnam, simply because he talked tough. In reality, he would have made it worse. By far. But we are talking about fringe elements here. Reason and complexity doesn't exist in their world.

4. I like to say to them...
"I've never seen so many rednecks wanting to "liberate" so many ragheads in all my life"
:sarcasm:

Seriously, these are the same type of people who wanted to turn Iraq "into a sheet of glass" that now want to bring democracy and freedom to them. My statement does point out their twisted thinking.
