Things are rapidly getting so bad now, between Iraq, gasoline, employment, health insurance, that it's getting increasingly hard for even the most deluded bushbot to not have the sense that the country has run off the rails and that a change is needed.
I was a bit bummed that Kerry didn't push "Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago" as his essential message.

Anyway, tell people what you're going to do and not just that you're going to be different.
Putting people first (underscored by, "it's the economy, stupid") -- now that tells you something.
