I was talking to a Jewish friend last night and she said the Jewish...
community is very concerned about Bush. She wasn't referring to Israel but rather the civil rights issue. Is it just her circle of associates or is this a common occurrence ?

2. I have a Jewish friend who supports * !!??!!??
She's married to a Gentile and raising her children as Catholics. She thinks that Democrats "don't work" (? What does she think that I do?) and was too busy to actually go and vote in the last election. At least she's too lazy to vote. I'm not sure how to del with her. She's a nice enough lady but somewhat divorced from reality.

Kerry | Poll: 75 percent of U.S. Jews say will vote for Kerry

HAARETZ: Poll: 75 percent of U.S. Jews say will vote for Kerry

75 percent of Jewish American voters will vote for Democratic candidate John Kerry in the upcoming November elections, a survey revealed on Monday.

According to the study summoned by the National Jewish Democratic Council and published on Monday, 75 percent of Jews polled said they would vote for Kerry while only 22 percent said they would re-elect President George W. Bush.
The results contradict Republicans’ claims that American Jewry is facing an historic change in voting habits, leading to mass support of Bush in the upcoming elections.

13. I guess you only read my subject then, not the fact that
a vast majority of Jews voted for Kerry.

5. Yes, There Are Jews With Buyers Regret
Money is money is money is money. I know several wealthy people are proud Jewish Repugnicans...have been for years and fall along the lines of being Rockafeller-wanna-bes.

These people loved those tax cuts and the eleminiation of the inheritance tax and look past everything else as long as their portfolios continue to increase. As long as they're making money, they don't care what else goes on. But right now they're not making money. What's worse is there's no "escape valve"...you can't jump from the market into T-Bills as those still are in crappy shape...and that's where the grumbling starts.

These people are pro-Israel in the way that they'll donate to Jewish causes, but they're not Likudniks or right wingers in the political sense. And many of these have long seen this regime and it's close ties to fundamentalists as being very troubling...but as long as they're still making money that's the priority.

10. What are you saying?

All Jews are rich investors? All rich investors are Jewish?

Sometimes I wonder about DU. And no, I'm not an apologist for Israel (or a Jew). But there is an awful lot of not-so-thinly-veiled anti-Semitism here.

16. So who are "they"

I mean "they" who have declining portfolios and therefore are abandoning Bush?

This thread is insidious and all too typical.

11. Last Year It Was Up
Gotta look at it in incriments...that's what this regime did. They were able to manipulate the markets enough toward the end of 2003 and into 2004 that stock prices that had lost value in the shakeout of 2001-02 had recovered and in some cases, people were ahead of where they were when Bunnypants came into office. Add to that seeing their tax brackets drop from 28 to 14 percent and more legislation was being rammed through.

In many elections, people vote their pocketbook above anything else. It never ceases to frustrate me when I'll hear someone bitch about this regime and then find out they voted for the asshole...simply cause they felt he was better for their pocketbook than Democrats.

8. I don't know. I know quite a few Jewish people that supported *...
Not that I understand it, but they did. :banghead:

Several still back him up and think he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. But, I will add that these same people think he is doing great things for the future of Israel and they support much of Sharon's nonsence, too.

9. There are some Jewish voters who voted for * because they think he is
a strong supporter of Israel, my sister in law and brother in law are two. It doesn't help that they watch Fox News.:-( and only see distortions of Democratic policies portrayed there.
