Californians Still Believe In Iraq, 9/11 Link

(CBS 5) The White House is defending President Bush following a speech about the Iraqi war in which he repeatedly referenced 9/11.

On Wednesday, Democrats accused the president of shamelessly, and incorrectly linking 9/11 to Iraq in an effort to bolster support for the war. But some Bay Area residents seem to be siding with the president.

“Personally I think Saddam Hussein had some involvement (in 9/11 attacks), to what extent I don’t know,” says Bush supporter Walt Bosman.
“I think that’s what started the whole thing, 9/11, and got us started getting more aggressive in going overseas,” said Botto.

....

Many Californians simply believe that the old Iraq regime was capable of another 9/11, and had to be stopped. Others told CBS 5 that they are sure the evidence connecting Iraq to 9/11 will eventually turn up.

“Well, there had to be a connection,” says Abby Schonkoff. “There had to be a connection.”

7. So? There's stupid people
in California, too..they're Rampant..bush isn't the only idiot in the World..he just has the keys to the chimphouse.

It's the media,stupid!

I just bet there are more people who know 9/11 had nothing to do with bombing Iraq back to the Stone Age than are too shallow to think. We just won't see those reports from our corporate media who are more concerned with their their tax cuts and monopoly than they are with the future of our Country. So Fuck Them All!

11. This seems so much to fit the patterns in "Outfoxed"...
where they do quotes as saying "Some would say..." to not acknowledge that it is their own opinion that they are trying to push. I see no numbers, no location where these people were interviewed (Modesto?)... What a crock. Manuel Ramos needs to have his mailbox pounded and asked if he went to the same school of journalism that Jeff Gannon/Guckert did...

14. Yeah, three is the exact number of people...
Edited on Thu Jun-30-05 11:13 AM by calipendence
that the article substantiates with that opinion. The three they actually quoted. Noplace else do they even attempt to qualify numbers based on any kind of data that support that opinion.

I suggest you all send a note to the news director there on this contact page suggesting that they engage in better journalistic practices than what this article exemplifies. It is also the editor's job to ensure that headlines match what truely an article is talking about, which was the big failure point here.
