Kerry is running ads in South Florida
I saw it on CNN.

Because the Florida primary isn't until a week after the March 2 super-tuesday, I'm guessing his strategy here is to make his money back in donations. South Florida is a hotspot for affluent and/or longtime dem donors, and I guess he's trying out his new add here before other candidates.

The add featured his VVAW speech to congress at the beginning, followed by a highlight reel of his senate accomplishments.

It's the best candidate ad I've seen so far this election.

2. Miami Dade is a Democratic county
although not as much as Broward. There are more Democrats registered than Republicans and Gore won over 50% of the vote in 2000.

3. Wow.
I lived there for years and remember the strength and power of the Cuban Republican voters and supporters.

4. Well, they're certainly a vocal group
I think the city of Miami itself might lean Republican, but the county as a whole leans Democratic (about 20% of the population is African American, which helps our side, and there is also a growing non-Cuban Hispanic population).

But, of course, the whole area is districted to make it difficult for Democrats to win congressional seats.

5. Exactly.
I remember the dirty politics when I used to live there. What a place!

6. Yes...I saw that one at his site.
It really is a winning ad and a winner for the general election, too. In fact, it does seem like a general election ad, doesn't it?
