Anybody watching C-Span 1? Obey has just offered an amendment
to cut Representatives salary. To pay salaries out of funds for DC and limited to 92,500 (City Councilman's salary). This is in response to the repugs passing an amendment to change DC law that was passed by the DC City Council to loosen gun ownership restrictions. Obey says if the Reps want to act in the role as the City Council then they need to be paid by the DC funds. Said they were taken away right of the DC City Council. Said they should expect a pay cut if that is the job they want.

Amendment was offered by Rep from Indiana. Obey the DC representatives cannot vote on the issue so the House need to stay out of a subject already decided by DC voters. He is cooking. The amendment will fail, of course.

Obey is pissed - good TV. Offered up the amendment and then made them read it. Repugs were trying to ignore it.

House just ruled amendment out of order - surprise, surprise. Still good.

The Dems have gotten a backbone. The repugs will now have to defend their smaller government, states' rights who doo hypocrisy.
