Strange days indeed. I feel like I should be smacking myself.

and have to step down for health reasons.

3. People in POWER have a very hard time giving up that POWER

Had the touchscreens and other help not gave Ohio to Bush, he would have added Zero to the SC. But now there is a chance that after 8 years the SC will be the same as when he got into office. Which is fine by me...

5. Think about it
Why the hell hasn't he retired? He obviously should for his health, I mean does he fear the type of man * would put in his place or what?

11. Perhaps he thinks he has earned the right to name his successor
and * won't go along. Pure speculation, but there must be a reason other than the usual desire to cling to power.

6. If he can make one more term
The confirmation fight will be right in time for the mid term elections and we will be able to use that fight to our advantage.

7. No, They Don't Want to Name A Successor Early
They want to wait until the very last minute to name a SCOTUS nominee. Thus, cutting back the time for opposition research.

10. Maybe they want him to hold off and do it closer to the 2006 election
to fire up their base because otherwise some of their people may stay home BUT the WH doesn't get to say when Rehnquist or O'Connor resign so

8. I think we would be lucky if Bush nominates Alberto Gonzales when
there is an opening.

Strange days, indeed.

The RW will freak if he does and that says a lot.
