wacky neil cavuto and all that's right about our iraq policy |
|
Cavuto has a post on foxnews.com that purports to set out, from a viewer, an analysis of what's going right in Iraq (my comments are inserted):
"We went to depose terror... We did.
Uh, I thought the President just explained that we went to Iraq to attract terrorists. How many different rationales for the war are we up to now?
"We went to install democracy... We did.
Installing democracy -- interesting concept. How democratic is a government that's "installed" by a foreign power through the exercise of military force. And exactly how "democratic" is Iraq today anyway.
"We went to install a government... We did.
Okay, but its not as if they didn't have a government before, it just was one we didn't like. Frankly, it was probably a more effective government when it comes to providing basic services than the one that is there now. Oh yeah, don't forget to add this to the list of rationales for the war. Next it'll be "We went to give the Iraqi people ice cream and candy...we did."
"We went to restore a key nation... We have.
Restore a key nation...help me out here since I have no idea what this means.
"We are stopping future 9/11s... We have.
Well, good to know that someone can see the future. Wish they'd had that power on September 10.
"And the battle has been in Basrah, not Boston.
Yep, and we fought in Vietnam so we wouldn't fight in Houston or San Diego or some such. And exactly what is it that we're doing in Iraq that is keeping those foreign terrorists from getting on planes and coming to Boston? Can't think of anything? Me either. So maybe the lack of terror in Boston doesn't have shit to do with Iraq, you moron.
"So what is wrong with our Iraq policy?" Pretty much every fucking last thing

5. Making sense isn't what the right wing media is all about... |
|
It's all about sound bites and that's what he was doing, speaking in sound bites. Something that they could chop up and show him over and over again saying:
"We went to depose terror... We did. flashy graphic We went to install democracy... We did. flashy graphic etc...
Sure he's an asshole, there are a lot of people who would make a living off of being an asshole if they could, the difference is, he does.
