If the "good" Christians are tired of the "demonization" of Christianity
maybe one thing they can do is stand up and shout out loud and get truly angry whenever the "bad" christians (the fundamentalists) tell lies about gays and lesbians.

Gays are forced to defend themselves from the chronic lying and the organized attacks of the Christian right every single day in America.

It would be nice if the "good" Christians were as vocal, as loud, as angry and as committed as they were over injustices done to blacks and women in prior generations.

I know there are tons of great straight people who stand up for their gay brothers and sisters all the time.

But there aren't enough. And this is war.

1. Are you sure that we aren't? Just because you don't hear it doesn't
mean it isn't being said. (And bear in mind that fundagelicals will actually stand up to some degree for injustices against women and ethnic and racial minorities even as they push the GBLTs down. So you need a Venn diagram to actually keep track of this stuff.)

2. many of us do
we are up against an organization that has been plotting this takeover of our government for 30 years http://www.yuricareport.com/

I'm sure that many "good" muslims roundly condemn the acts of the 9/11 hijackers...

but for some strange reason they don't get any press either.

3. I am Bitching
I am a Christian and am sick and tired of these charlatans spewing their poison. I make it very clear where I stand when talking about the lies of the Bushco and that they are USING religion to obtain a political goal.

I AM "screaming about it but MSM does not listen.

6. Of course the MSM doesn't listen...
that's because you and I and many other Christians like us aren't real Christians. We all know Jesus would have stoned the adulteress but there is liberal Bias in the Gospels. Jesus didn't care about the poor, he despised them. Jesus didn't heal the sick, he believed that they should take personal responsibility for their actions. The Jesus you read about in the Bible is some liberal fraud. The real Jesus is the Supply-Side Jesus that appears in Franken's book. Fortunately the Old Testament seems not to be as tainted as we can now ignore the Gospels in favor of the truth which tells us to persecute and execute homosexuals.

5. Sorry, I'm a bit busy right now
Feeding the hungry, visiting the sick and imprisoned, clothing the naked, and housing the destitute. I marched in our city's pride parade a couple of weeks ago with folks from my congregation in a phalanx of about 40 congregations from around the city. Next week I'll be attending our denomination's Annual Conference, talking to other Church of the Brethren folks about these and other issues.

Oh, you don't see any of that on the evening news, just Phelpsians with their "God Hates Fags" signs? I can't really help you there. Maybe you could contact your local media outlets?

8. Why did the media cover all the white kids who went
South to help with the civil rights movement, but seemingly almost NEVER cover the straight people who favor civil equality for their gay fellow citizens?

7. Real Christians need to drown out the voice of the fake ones.
That is all I think needs to be said and done. The rabid fundementalist christians are stupid, lets face it. Normal non-judgmental christians are not, and they know the true definition of what their savior taught them. The trick is, is being heard; or igoring Christian Fundmentalism and any laws associated with it all together. Mass Civil Disobiedence is a great way to fight injustice, just ask MLK.

9. I do.
I got into it with a couple of people when phone banking for Kerry, and I take it on every chance I get (except for my in-laws, who wouldn't listen to me anyway).

I will never forget what happened to my gay and lesbian friends at our evangelical Christian college--horrific, really--and will never stop fighting for them and anyone else in their position.
