9. I'm still trying to determine a LOT about this matter. Let's see:

The Shah of Iran was in power based on a CIA backed coup. He was an evil dictator who did horrible, horrible things to his OWN people. The MAJORITY of the people wanted him removed from power and were successful in overthrowing a BRUTAL DICTATOR.

He then fled to the United States. The Iranians wanted him extradited to face charges. The US refused. The Iranians used what weapons they had on hand, ie, the taking of hostages. The hostages were eventually released.

I agree that the taking of hostages should be condemned. However, the United States has a history of holding entire nations hostage and leaves a wake of death and destruction in its path.
