5. I can't speak for everyone

...but I live in New York and when I found out they were going to have the convention here it made me completely nauseous, as it did for everyone else I told. It would have been unpopular here anyway, no matter how Bush was doing, but given his recent dive in the polls I don't see how the decision to have the convention here could be viewed as anything but completely transparent.

Bush is not fucking welcome here, and he never was, except for the week of 9-11, and that ended pretty damn quick. Before October 2001 everyone here hated him again already.

Today, no kidding, I saw between 200 and 250 cops on my commute home from work today due to the heads of state visiting town. I can only imagine the kind of security constraints we'll be seeing.

The funny thing is that NYC has always been city non grata for the Republicans since time immemorial, or at least since the famous "FORD TO NYC: DROP DEAD" headline. 30 million people live in NY, NJ, and Connecticut. All with in a day trips range of NYC. If just 1 out of every 300 of them can be convinced to protest the Chimp, that is 100,000 bodies in the streets. Think about the image of tens of thousands of people in the streets asking for the Chimp to go.
