Arianna vs. Arnold..... WW3!!!
I've never seen anything like this.

Arnold: Blah, blah, blah.

Arianna: You're an idiot. You're waffling. You're terrible with women. Bush sucks.

Arnold: Blah, blah, blah.

Arianna: See what I mean? He's an idiot. He's waffling. You're a hypocrate.

He's so damn passive, doesn't make me want to vote for him, though of course I will.

Wish Gray Davis were there.

But Arianna is the only reason to watch this damn debate. She is on top of every single lie that Arnold spews. I'm not going to vote for her, but I might send her campaign a few bucks for her performance tonight!

46. Send her some $$ -- help her make her point!
Arianna rocked tonight! I sent her a donation for the second time since she announced. I know she probably doesn't have a chance to win it, but as I've seen expressed on these threads earlier regarding Kucinich -- she's getting her name and face out there big time, making her mark. And judging by what I've seen tonight, she's coming across a little too good for the likes of that moderator. Was he sent in by Rove?

But I have gained a shitload of respect for Arrianna Huffington. She's not just taking Arnold on, it looks like she's going to tackle him and put him in a sleeper hold.

BTW, when Arnold talks about his successful business experience, isn't he talking about the now bankrupt Planet Hollywood?

keep EVERYONE to his/her time; stop people from interrupting others.

It's not his job to keep the candidates on point or make any other comment on their content. It's up to the VIEWERS/VOTERS to decide whether the candidate has addressed the issues.

The rest of them would've sat there and let Arnold dominate. She tore him down at every opportunity. I appreciate that. I think it was orchestrated, she did the Dems a HUGE favor.

McClintock did try to separate himself from Arnold, though, appealing to the conservative Dems in California in his closing statement. Hope it works. Can't wait to hear the spin. I'm afraid they are going to criticize Arianna for attacking.

61. I may be hopelessly naive
but having heard her speak, read her stuff, read what Al Franken (my hero) has said about her over the years, I believe that she is someone who is evolving, so has some contradictory thoughts and actions like most thinking people (including DUers), but is sincere. I believe she was driven to enter this race because she really thought she really wants the job, that she was as qualified as other candidates, that she's appalled at trends she sees, and thought that this was the right time to do it. I think she took on Arnold because she is sick to death of the free pass the media is giving him and she is probably horrified at the thought that he might be the next governor. She has tons of money, and had tons of people coming to her speeches BEFORE she entered. Many people encouraged her to jump in. She doesn't need a career or ego boost, and certainly doesn't need the criticism (just or unjust) and crap that comes with a political campaign.

This is now all about a No on the recall. Personally, i think Davis has a LOT of ammunition to use in campaign ads now. Think of an ad with a quick 10 secs of all these people screaming at eachother followed by Davis saying, "I'm not perfect, but let me do do my job. Do you want these people running things?"

52. Beware the Huffington
Her "Answer Yes or No" approach may has worked to stifle, even embarrass the large Austrian,I highly doubt those tactics would've worked on Bustamante,or even Comejo. These guys know their issues. Both from living, and working in California politics.Huffington is the socialite, former Republican ex wife of an oil baron. From Greece.
Arianna's views at times bounce from left to right, and occasionally, out of bounds. Her party label as an {I},should've actually been a{?}.
During her speech, and from other qoutes I've gleaned,Ms.Huffington uses Republican idealogy,Democratic compassion and Socialist values.Though her debate technique is somewhat despotic. She seems genuinely confused, and appears to have forgotten that American politics isnt well suited for multiple parties. The thing she may accomplish, along with Comejo,no offense,is siphoning enough Democrat votes away from Bustamante to put another underdeserving, closeminded republican in a key govermental fixture. One that will be very crucial come next presidential campaign.Voters of California should be very wary, and very careful. If you think your state is in bad shape now, wait until McClintock is in office.

Edited on Thu Sep-25-03 04:06 AM by Classical_Liberal
and he has a siphoner in the form of McClintock. I don't see a stark choice between Arnold and Davis. Arnold whatever his flaws isn't George W Bush the barbarian, who scares the hell out of Naral. McClintock would be in that role, and California will never elect him. Grey Davis is not nearly as progressive as Al Gore. He is more like Lieberman. On off chance Arnie wins, I don't see a tragedy occuring, and don't know why people have to pretend this is Bush vs Gore. It won't wash. Arianna also did a good job of neutralizing Busumante in the last debate, with the prison industries and indian casino money. She is a true improvement over the three major candidates, and the only REAL progressive. Bustumante talks good but it isn't his record.

67. Arianna: multi-millionaire author/columnist - doesn't care anout winning
This is NOT what this is about. She's trying to "bring down" Arnie, the Republican Party and Bush. This ain't about winning the Governorship of California. This is a major "media" campaign for her. She wants a "National Platform" - and she probably will have it after this debate.

Watch for her future columns.....
