It previously was thought that his proposed revision would cost less than the machine-heavy current forces, but no. He is apparently planning to build his new structure while leaving the current one intact, though subject to rearrangement. His request would leave only about $320 billion for all social spending -- like the man who spends so much putting bars on the windows that the family has no money left for groceries.

Stonewall. Bush doesn't want to talk about it. Vice President Dick Cheney is facing a General Accounting Office suit to force him to disclose what went on in his energy policy meetings. His office has refused to release documents touching on the matter, claiming that Congress is overstepping its oversight authority.
The editor of The Nation, though, has suggested that opposition to exposure stems from the danger that too many tracks would lead to the Oval Office. What in the world could lead to such an assumption? Could be the part of the record that is already known. For example, columnist
Michael Moore points out in an open letter to Bush that:• "Kenny gave you his corporate jet to fly around to campaign stops in your 2000 race.
Standing in front of an Enron jet, you told your fellow citizens that you were going to restore honor and dignity to the White House."• "You interrupted a campaign trip in April to fly to Houston for opening day of the new Enron Field so you could watch Kenny throw out the first pitch."
