Is there any chance a Democrat might surface as the leaker?
Just asking....I haven't seen this possibilty thrown into the mix?
I shudder to think at how much damage such a revalation would do to progressive causes.
Don't Flame. Discuss
Thanks

I know that the repubs own the White House.
But I've seen a whole lotta theories regarding this. And I'm just throwing one more out there.

5. When this first came out |
|
2 years ago, the FReepers were blaming the dems for the leak. Their logic went something like this - to give Wilson credibility for his claims that that Sadaam had NOT bought WMD material from Niger, it was disclosed that his wife was a CIA operative and an expert on WMDs. In other words, Wilson knew what he was talking about and being married to a CIA covert agent just gave him more credibility.
I know I know. It all seems pretty silly now, doesn't it?

3. what would be the motive? |
|
It would be quite a revelation but the possibility of this seems rather absurd.

The difference is... we, meaning us average democrats, would hang them for it. We wouldn't sit there and defend the assholes.
But to answer Bronx's question all leads and leaks have pointed to BushINC outing the CIA agent in retaliation for the yellow cake scandal he delivered in his Presidential Address to the country in the run up to the war in Iraq.
Dems do not have a motive for leaking that information, it's a freeper conspiracy that they are protecting Hillary. IE everything that bad that happens to shithead is because of Hillary.

19. If it were a dem, we'd hang 'em |
|
it makes the rest of us look bad. I for one would not want that stain on the democratic party.
I guess the repubs prefer the stain

But I've never seen the possibility discussed here...
We should cover all bases shouldn't we?

11. We'd of discovered it |
|
with all of the digging we've been doing.. speculation.. I think we would of discovered those ties and out them ourselves.
Or they would of been outed for us, by Rove himself.
I'm pretty confident our hands are clean in this mess.

10. I had that same thought..... |
|
I could see it as a tragic possibility, hopefully highly unlikely.
Theoretical Scenario: In order to support the credibility of Joe Wilson's op-ed piece and claims about yellow cake, a Dem with some high level clearance tosses out Wilson's wife's credentials. This could have been in confidential conversation with a reporter, or in gossip that spread.
Even if this leaker turned out to have been a Dem., I think we all agree, that what was done was wrong and doesn't change the discussion. A crime was apparently committed, a CIA agent was outed. WHOEVER did this needs to be held accountable.
Let's just hope it's Bush/Cheney/Rove, et al.

12. Unless it was Zell Miller |
|
I'm comfortable with saying No to this possibility.
A Dem would of been outed by now, and put up as the sacrificial lamb. Rove would of been doing the frying. The idea that it has been dragged out for over 2 years out to speak volumes to you guys. WHO (Rove Bolton) ever it is.. is in a big position of power.

18. the theoretical scenario doesn't make sense |
|
how would Plame's credentials have any bearing on Wilson's op-ed piece?
Wilson's own credentials were more than enough, Plame adds nothing.

17. Novak cites two unnamed high ranking administration officials. |

I suppose Norman Mineta could be one of those, but it's highly unlikely. He;s the token Democrat in the Bush White House.
