Pleae explaine to me the difference between gederalist ^ anti federalist. |
|
There was great debate upon America's founding between the federalists and the anti-federalists.
Clearly the need for authority and unity was great, yet this must be balanced with individual freedom.
The founders agreed upon a model that allowed for the expansion of freedoms as our nation grew.
this an exerpt from a little less than half way down the page.
I don't understand this Federalist Society, and I expect if I did, I wouldn't need to know what the anti was, huh?

1. Federalists believed in a strong central government. |
|
Anti-federalists, like Jefferson, desired a weak central government, with each state guaranteed rights to self rule, or "states' rights."

Federalists: Human nature bad, government needs checks and balances
Anti-Federalists: Human nature can be made good through religion, no checks and balances needed.
My take after reading "What the Anti-Federalists were for"
