Limbaugh's attorney: 2,130 pills prescribed/ 217 days --"not excessive"
The prescription records that are in the search warrant affidavits should be put in perspective. Of the 2,130 pills prescribed, only 1,863 were painkillers, and of those only 1,733 were for hydrocodone. These were to be taken over a period of 217 days, from the date of the first prescription until 30 days from the date of the last prescription. The dose averages out to a little over eight pills a day, which is not excessive and is in fact a lawful dose.

Ninety-two percent of the pain medication was prescribed by two doctors who were treating Mr. Limbaugh for back pain. They work in the same office from the same medical file, and there could be no doctor shopping between them. One of these doctors also prescribed 117 pills of a drug used to treat high blood pressure or to help wean patients off of painkillers.

The other two doctors are the California surgeon who implanted the cochlear implant to restore Mr. Limbaugh's hearing and a Florida doctor he was seeing for follow up on the surgery. Of the 180 pills prescribed by the surgeon, 100 were vitamin pills. Of the 110 pills prescribed by the fourth doctor, 50 were non-painkillers prescribed for tinnitus, ringing in the ears.

15. Watch it!
Darvovet is extremely dangerous if overdosed. It's synthetic and too much will KILL you. It's not like too much of an opiod like OD, it's because of some other chemical poisoning. I think 15% of overdose deaths are due to Darvon (Propoxyphene) poisoning. Unless it's the only painkiller that works for you and it is that way with a friend of mine, get them to give you something else. The downside is if they give you something like Tylenol 3, acetaminophen is dangerous for your liver, nice huh?

22. Darvocet also has acetominophen in it--it is
Propoxyphene compounded with acetominophen.
Darvon is propoxyphene compounded with aspirin.

9. Ok, is that is no problem? Then why did he scuttle off to rehab?
and why did he admit that was his third attempt to kick painkillers by the rehab method? What about the money laundering charges? All those withdrawals of just under 10k?

17. Key word..."prescribed"
What about the ones that the housekeeper obtained illegally?
1733 Hydrocodone (Vicodin) prescribed over a 217 day period is approximately 8 Vicodin a day--which isn't that excessive because you can take 2 tabs every 4-6 hours. Kicker is, acetominophen does NOT cause tinnitus or hearing loss.
That leaves 130 additional pain killers which I think they are alluding to as oxycontin over the same period of time is one about every other day?
None of these figures makes sense.
The federal government doesn't track Vicodin and 130 oxycontin wouldn't trigger an investigation.
This is...in essence...a bucket of bloviating bullshit and I am sure there are parts that are true, but I am oh so sure that this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Spin...spin....spin. And the little Rushettes will just eat it up...

20. Thats one EVERY THREE HOURS and thats if he were awake 24/7
Let's say fatass slept 8 hours then he would be popping at the rate of every two hours. No ethical doc would ever prescribe that. Oxycontin (hillbilly heroin) is addictive and dangerous. Too bad the asshole didn't od on them.

26. Rush Limbaugh is a wussy and can't take pain like a real man.
There, I said it. Besides finding out that he's an addict and a criminal, that's what this is all about He doesn't want anyone to know what a big fat weenie wuss he is, that he can't tolerate the same level of pain that millions of people deal with on an everyday basis without whining and pewling to their doctors that they need more meds. Thousands of soldiers maimed and wounded in the Invasion on Iraq won't have access to the same balm of modern medicine that Rush went groveling after.

Big fat weenie wuss Rush. There, I said it.

27. Wouldn't the dosage be important?
Eight pills is a meaningless number without the dosage.

Anyhoo, the bigger issue to me is if this is all they got from the medical records then this whole fishing expedition was a huge waste.

I work in healthcare law and was never comfortable with this subpoena. I think the judge has probably split the baby correctly here in doling them out on a need to know basis.

But unless they find some huge revelation in them, I still see it as an unnecessary invastion of privacy.

I got in trouble for this on the Rove threads, but principles matter to me. I would rather see Limbaugh and Rove go free than horribly dangerous legal precedents be set.

28. Like they said, I'd consider the source
If the info is coming from Limbicile or his attorney, it's highly suspect.

I have a bad back, and a script for Vicodin. But my last 30 day script has lasted me for 18 months. And I still have half of it left. I only take it when absolutely necessary. Like 3 days ago when I threw my back out removing a fence. But I did double up on the dosage real quick.

He's full of shit. If he can take that much he's an addict.
