It is about the reaction to the bombings...I don't want to go off topic, that is not the intent of this post - but I said much the same thing you have - change "the war" to any other real issue such as education or taxes - the concept is the same.:

I live in Texas so I'm not into insulting our state. (although...)
I suspect the San Antonio plant benefits from cheap labor. In this part of the country anything above minimum wage may look good for many.

By the way, I'm ragging on this notion that Toyota thinks we're all idiots. Obvisouly we have SOMETHING going for us, and I suspect you are correct with your notion of cheap labor, and the propensity for Texans to give away huge tax breaks to corporations.
